Ever try drowning a horse fly? I don’t think it can be done.

only the females can sting. All black face I believe
DO NOT let your 4 yo get stung, those things are no fricking joke.
Wasp spray does nothing to them, soapy water does nothing to them.
The best way to handle carpenter bees? A badminton racket.

That just stuns them, unless you step on them when they are down they will just get up and fly away after the hangover wears off.

Edit: should've known my witty comment had already been posted.

I've had black widows underwater for several hours, and they came back when they dried out.
Bugs can basically go dormant, and it just takes oxygen in their spiracles (holes on legs or abdomen) to get them going again.

Same with regular flys also, and apparently carpenter bees.

We used to use these.
I also used to fill their holes with silicon while they were inside burrowing

I thought that might be effective as well when I was dealing with a large number of them but a little research showed it is counterproductive it just forces them to "drill" out of the other side causing more damage.

Hell yes...only way to kill those bastards before they eat your house is to pop them with a tennis racket, and stomp the shite out of them when they are down. They like to burrow through my front door. One shows up every year about this time....

Kids are hilarious. You gotta love them.
They say and the craziest shite.
It is why Scruffy loves what he does.

I used to love playing with carpenter bees when I was his age. An old lady down the street would pay me a quarter for every one I could wack out of the sky and kill on her property.
