Fact.
I do want to attend the 8 year old check book balancing class though.

Teaching the basics of modern communication to create a plank for propelling into more advanced modernity (like coding) is so much more valuable than a dead, manual script.
Time better served than learning some of the stuff added to the curriculum.
Many things are taught that the kids will never, never use. I doubt anyone will need to discuss Madame Bovary, or Macbeth either. Cursive is part of how we still communicate.

Louisiana education standards are at the bottom for a reason.
You think LA is the only place cursive isn't taught?

I realize they stopped teaching it, but still incredible to me they cant read it.
I've read that in many areas of the country they still teach it.
Idk about Louisiana. I know I learned it in the early 2000s.

My daughter in law can’t. She’s 25.

No, but there is only one bottom.

You could say that about a lot of the things they teach, but there still taught. What are the odds someone is going to need know the square root of pi or do long division when they have calculator at the palm of their hand ?

The hiring manager mailed a response to me, in cursive, thanking me for the fact that I took the time to write in cursive, stating that most letters he gets are from a word processor, and that my letter moved the applicant, the son of a close friend, to the top of the list of applicants.
Some people still appreciate it.
So forget whether the applicant was qualified or not, just the fact that you wrote a letter in an outdated method moved the applicated to the top?
Wow

It’s not like it’s a different language
Surely he can figure it out.. right? It’s not that difficult
If he was 7 that’s one thing but this is an adult we are talking about

Then that post was a stupid and irrelevant one.

Also a factual one unfortunately.

Wow, advanced math courses build on that foundation, making it the opposite of useless. Cursive writing is 100% useless.

Factual and irrelevant, sure.
