Take away everything that is not a necessity and allow her to earn it back through positive behavior.

Repost this in about 3 years, ya know, when she's about 18.5 yrs old. Just to confirm her career choice.

My oldest is almost 21 and our biggest issue is she doesn’t know how to freakin dress herself.

Boots do not go with everything.

WTH? As a head coach, you should be doing that anyways. No coach can contact via email, texts, apps, etc. a kid without copying a parent at our schools.

White boots? I call the clothes my daughter wears her uniform. It’s the same damn look every time. at one point every pic on her Instagram was the same outfit. I finally said people are gonna think you have one shirt, one pair of shorts and one pair of boots.

No, she hasn’t done the white boots thing. It’s like lace up winter boots that she wears year round.

She also mixes and matches patterns.

But i figure I’m doing good if the main thing I’m worried about is her looking goofy.

So a lot to unpack here.

First, you and your wife need to be on the same page with discipline. And I’d let the coach know why she doesn’t have her phone, they may even be willing to implement some punishment on their end too in tandem.

Second, what kind of responsibilities does she have around the house? Chores? Does she get an allowance?

What does it look like when you ground her? Are you just taking the phone for short periods? Is your punishments progressive or the “You’re grounded for weeks” but then it’s really only two days?

Make sure you’re being consistent in your expectations but also in your discipline.

ETA: You also need to reign this shite in before she starts driving.

Get your wife in order.

Next, tell the coaches to frick off too. They don't get to dictate how you parent your child.

Well, let's see if we can help you out here. I agree, boots don't go with everything (unless she's really hot) but anyway.

Let's start with the fact that they do go with NOTHING! I don't care if they're white shramp boots or hip boots or whatever!

Yep, send pics of some of her attire decisions WITH BOOTS!

Saw a study on 16 year old girls and brain scans, and they are psychotic. Like they had waves matching serial killers. They do improve somewhat as they age, but those early years of hormones, are going to be trying on anyone, just try to survive it as best you can…..

Mrs M. and I raised three daughters as well. They presented drastically different challenges compared to the two boys.

We feel your pain.

Mrs M. wanted me to cheat somehow and give you two upvotes.

Only advice we can offer.

-You and wife line up and fly in formation.

-Don’t let the child create and exploit division.

-She’s your child not the coaches’. Keeping y’all out the loop is out of line. Even in the name of “independence”. Ms. M. has reviewed and approves this response.

Stay strong, my friend....wife needs to agree to come to your side as split directives will usually fail.

Send a message to the coach on a burner asking to meet somewhere and ask him / her to bring some wine coolers. Be there with some other parents and some bats... for practice of course.
