This would be awesome and I'm sincerely hoping it happens. But Helena Morena has likely already been ordered by her handlers to tank this, at all costs. Anything to prevent Elon from getting a win. It would be more appreciated in GOP-lead cities like Fort Worth, Jacksonville, OKC or Fresno. But let's hope the powers that be can allow some real progress to happen.

Would be cool to have this connecting the Old and new terminals at MSY.

No offense, but this is a dumb comment. It is very common for tunnels traverse under.... water.
OP probably referenced need for SCUBA due to the immense amount of steaming BS objections to be navigated before hands-out officials are "satisfied" this will work.
Project will be underwater before it $tarts.
