Well, it was previously unregulated but now that Musk bought it it'll be heavily regulated by your beloved party's DOJ and ministry of truth

And what the Government has successfully done here is farm out censorship to the private sector. It's genius.

The Government gets to sit back and say Hey, we're not doing it, Twitter is. all the while Twitter is being run by like minded political activists.

When I was a kid I was taught to believe the Government was the only threat to the 1st amendment. I never would've believed in a thousand years however that our greatest threat to free speech would come from the private sector.

Genius political maneuvering right there.

Good.

It’s ok to have an opinion.

I don’t get why people get so bothered about an opinion

When Twitter coordinates directly with the White House about what can and can't be talked about on their platform, and who is allowed to be on it, then yes, it's a free speech issue.

Because there is only one correct opinion, and anything counter to that opinion must be silenced.

Twitter banning people isn’t a free speech thing unless you’re also arguing to make Twitter an online version of a town square

The issue is whether Twitter is a platform or a publisher. Free speech protections apply to publishers and not platforms. Twitter is somewhere in the middle, with arguments on both sides having some merit.

And what's it called when private industry teams up with government to push a certain political ideology?

Hmmmm....

It's on the tip of my tongue....

When government chooses to make official announcements and advisements on the platform, it becomes such. Like it or not.

This is a fantastic point! Thank you

Dude, you guys are watching your ideology crumble in real time. You have a lot more shite to worry about than Trump. Go fluff some pillows and get some donuts for the house viewing

Weird how this is now a leftist talking point. The guy who said you are a bunch of authoritarian despot wannabes was on the money.

Its explicitly obvious that the government now uses the 'private sector' to circumvent those pesky rules and laws. To pretend otherwise is to be a disingenuous shitbird.

You’re also stupid enough to believe requiring people to have id’s to vote is racist. Your opinion on anything is meaningless.

It’s amazing that after the last five years of repeated lies by the political left and media anyone buys into the “misinformation” nonsense anymore.

It’s blatant propaganda at this point.

Then why did the democrats of our "government " want to launch an investigation into Musk buying it then?

Psaki overtly and clearly stated that the administration was flagging content for social media companies to censor.

I'm glad Trump can get his tweeter machine back. I'm a grown adult that can use information to determine when he lies and when he seldom tells the truth.

Which is fine with me. Forming another social media platform does not fix the real issue. Both viewpoints need to have the ability to be presented in a place where it can be heard by all. If your viewpoints and the logic behind them are as sound as you think, then why ban the opposition?
