Just wondering what y'all mean by phony or what y'all thought was weird. I've only seen him on tv and thought he was weird and creepy.

When I say phony I mean he was overly cheerful and happy in a way that seemed fake, akin to a televangelist trying to sell you something. That was my feeling - obviously some others really liked him.

What was weird to me was them all living in the same house and wondering if they had any independence from him. I thought maybe the living together was because they were from England and couldn't afford another place. I wasn't aware of how long they had been in the U.S. and never asked what brought them here (who *wouldn't* want to live in America?!?) and they never offered details either.

I further believe the anonymous man when he said he believes that Scott manipulated Mathew into pulling the trigger. That's exactly what I was telling people a few days ago.

On top of everything else, that's one of the most fricked up things I've read about in my lifetime.

Man I'm gonna pray for the Mathew kid.

I just can't imagine being in a situation like the abused kids were and then deciding to stick with the guy for years

Well I think the way we talk about these things leads to confusion. If they were 13-15 years old when he got hold of them in England, they weren't physically "kids", but mentally they weren't adults, so he could manipulate them and convince them and himself that he loved them in a good way. Then once you start down that path as a young person, and your parents let it happen, it's probably not exactly easy to extricate yourself. I'm not sure they ever "decided" to stick with him, and I would bet money that he himself didn't view the relationship as abusive. Wouldn't surprise me if the relationship wasn't even physical outside of whatever abuse started it.

I so believe that Mathew was manipulated into pulling the trigger. Scott was to afraid to do it himself so he had Mathew do the dirty work just as he did in his life. Mathew always had to do the dirty work. He worked him like a slave and treated him bad. Mathew was a sweet caring guy. Totally devoted to taking care of those children. HE IS A VICTIM NOT A MURDERER. He was groomed by Scott from a very very young age. Brainwashed. It's hard to believe that a grown man would not walk away but you have to understand the dynamic here. He was controlled, manipulated and sexually, physically and emotionally abused by this monster for most of his life. From the time he was 12 or 13 years old. Think about a child at that age and how easily influenced they can be. It's such a tragic story. Pray for the victims. Bless them. The innocent victims.

How would they do that when the story is a bunch of British people?

Easy. You interview a bunch of people with "funny accents" saying how great he was and they didn't know; spliced with the facts making it obvious only an idiot wouldn't know.

Of course, the audience won't be informed that the funny talking people were unaware of those facts.

Easy peasy

The irony is he is saying that those who pray are brainwashed as well.

The brainwashed praying for the brainwashed.

Atheists are so adorable.

Well if that is the case, then we, humans as a whole are brainwashed.

Well, we do tend to paint the picture that becomes the reality we chose to live in. Agreed.

I thought so too. But the narrative there was more favorable to Lafayette than this narrative will be to Baton Rouge.

Brandon Scott Lavergne was a POS from the backwoods. Scott Rogers had a community TV show and was a face of the city. Different story altogether.
