I tend to leave those kind of calls to God.
However, here on Earth, it sounds like we're better off without his sick arse.

And all these years in life. The people around him looked the other way. That's how he got away with it. Other people TOO CLOSE to him suffered for it.

I knew Scott, Mathew, Kimmie, the anonymous callers and even another person not yet mentioned. When I knew them years ago, he ran a legitimate consulting company - life coaching (ironically), graphic design, motivational speaking, etc. and the Brits worked for him. In fact, that's how I met them - I heard him speak and convinced him to speak to my group. I became friends with them, spending a lot of time with them for the duration of many years. I spent countless hours in their house with them over the course of almost three years - as a friend, not a business associate - and even today have remnants of my time with them in my house. Scott was enthusiastic, charming, charismatic, supportive, and seemed genuinely interested in everything I said.
However, I completely believe the anonymous caller - and anyone who knows Scott should know exactly who that caller is and should believe him.
When I was spending a lot of time with them, I never saw anything illegal or anything other than stuff I chalked up to just being eccentric. Now, with the news and further reflection, I cannot say I am entirely surprised. What I thought was strange I realize now were habits and behaviors that support these assertions about him (controlling behavior, extreme privacy, certain levels of affection with specific people, utter devotion of the others to Scott, etc.). I even knew about the England issues - he told me that there were problems with his past and he was worried that someone would discover it. Curious, I researched it and found the articles from Bury St. Edmunds. When I confronted him about it, however, he gave me very plausible explanations, explanations that I know now were lies.
But again, let me reiterate that I never saw anything illegal. There were no children in the house in the years I knew them. Mathew and the others were in their 20s. If he is found of doing anything in BR (other than the abuse of Mathew and the caller and possibly one other person), I believe it has to be recent, not in the first years of his living in BR.
I lost touch with them many years ago - after I moved and then they moved. I tried to find them, but they have zero social media presence and google searches came up extremely futile. Now I know why.
This is just so surreal to those of us who know/knew him. My heart breaks for those he manipulated. When I knew them, I adored them. The anonymous caller, Mathew, the others not yet mentioned. They were always sweet, kind, compassionate to me, and always supportive. I further believe the anonymous man when he said he believes that Scott manipulated Mathew into pulling the trigger. That's exactly what I was telling people a few days ago.
I hope that those Scott victimized survive this nightmare and are able to heal and are able to survive the complicated road that is stretched before them.

Yeah. I've been lurking, though. When the stuff went down Wednesday, I started googling information. I found the thread and I've been following it. I finally posted.

Thanks for your insight. As I have stated before I knew the 1stCo crew on a professional basis and chalked up their weird dynamic to them being foreign? It was easy to overlook for the most part. I thought Scott was rather phony and controlling of his employees but never expected this, and how it would relate to those who were in his life. I am pulling for the caller to be able to move on with his life and am glad for him that he escaped. I wish Mathew had been able to do the same - I too completely believe that Scott wanted him to shoot him. They were very kind and talented individuals. Can't believe what they had to endure.

It's interesting that you said "phony." I remember thinking "unrealistic" or "dreamers." I also chalked it up to the foreign aspect. I found Scott and Kimmie that way in particular. The caller and the others were a bit more realistic, but even then their devotion to Scott was different than what I was used to. I spent most of my time with Kimmie, the caller, and another one of them - and I remember them saying, "Scott wouldn't like that" with things that I felt had nothing to do with Scott (none of his business). But I didn't question it. They were all on work visas, knew no one else, and he was like the patriarch of the family.
There was one, however, who managed to leave in 2001/2002. I don't know if he ever returned, but he was looking forward to leaving. He told me he didn't like it there. Scott was too mean/harsh for him - of course, that reasoning takes on a new meaning now. But none of the others expressed a desire to leave. I hope this one did stay away. I think he might have been the second caller, but I'm not entirely sure.

This is nuts. Thanks for sharing your insight. I just can't imagine being in a situation like the abused kids were and then deciding to stick with the guy for years.

There was nothing but devotion when I knew them (again, more than 10 years ago). Everyone was relatively relaxed, chipper, helped Scott easily. His daughter was worried about doing things that would upset him - but that was his daughter. Sometimes the others would also not do things without his permission, but I never got a fear vibe. I ate dinner with them, watched movies with them, sang at his piano with him, interned at their office one summer, I stayed over there one night when I came into town, and pretty much dropped over whenever I wanted to when I lived in BR. He encouraged me to come hang out with them because he was worried about finding good people to be friends with his daughter.
I don't know what transgressed in the years after we lost touch (maybe by 2004). But there was no sense of danger when I was around them. Only the one expressed unhappiness. The others - Mathew included - were fine being there. I believe the caller said it wasn't until he was in his late 20s (being 7-8 years ago) that he started having doubts and depression and unhappiness. I was there before that all happened.
Edited to add: The last paragraph, about the unhappiness not being there, either speaks about the extreme secrecy and/or the brainwashing that happened. The caller even mentioned that either in the call or in an interview that's been in a paper - he said that at 16, an army couldn't take them away. And consider other things he said: they were forced to turn over money to him, he paid them very little, he separated them from their family. All that PLUS they were in a foreign country and he controlled their actions. They were trapped, whether they really realized it or not. Luckily the caller realized it, although it took a long time. Unluckily, Mathew either never realized it, or realized it and didn't know how else to get out.

No. His heart is still beating.

Just wondering what y'all mean by phony or what y'all thought was weird. I've only seen him on tv and thought he was weird and creepy.
