BATON ROUGE - Authorities say multiple pedestrians were struck Friday morning.

The pedestrians were hit at a crosswalk at LSU before 9:30 a.m.

Early reports indicate the crash happened near the intersection of Nicholson and South Stadium Drive. An LSU spokesperson said, a vehicle was pushed into pedestrians that were standing on the sidewalk.

Authorities say that four people were transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

Reports say two cars were involved in the crash.

It blows my mind how many people texted and drove when I went to college. And a ton also just browsed the internet because they were bored while they were, you know, driving somewhere. It's terrible.

Sounds like a little more than a dumb kid walking out into traffic.

This is a failure of the city and the university to make safer crosswalks, as well as the drivers and the walkers for not taking proper caution in a congested area.

Anyone read the thread I started yesterday about being on campus? It was mind boggling how people were walking into traffic. I sat and watched people, NOT at crosswalks, playing on their phones walk into traffic on Nicholson Extension without breaking stride. There is some cultural shift that has occurred that has the students absolutely believing that cars will stop. I get using the right of way but at least look at the cars as you cross.

What if the people in the crosswalk were just crossing (not looking at phones) and the driver was distracted?

Still the walkers fault. Just because I have the right of way doesn’t mean ima was into the street in front of a car without making sure they see me and are stopping.
