Anyone know if the signal had a flash yellow arrow? That would give the left a permitted phase. Would be unusual for a dual left and should be signed for flashing yellow if there was one.

The turn arrows definitely were not flashing, and appear to be red in the video.

The person who ran the red light would be more at fault than a person travelling through a green light.

She caused the accident by proceeding through the red light and turning in front of him.

"Turning in front of him"

He was going 75 mph over the speed limit.

Motorcycle had to have been going the speed of light to cave in the side of a car that way. Slow tf down people!

I’ve seen the video. He hit it so hard it almost turned the car on its side. Lifted the tires a good 4-5 feet off the ground. A MOTORCYCLE

Sure looks like she had double red arrows and motorcycle had green light but was flying. Just tragic mistakes that resulted in a terrible wreck.

watching that it doesn't seem like he was going 80 or 100 like some keep saying. Just compare his speed to a few of the cars that passed before him.

It is awful in New Orleans. It's time to bring back the red light cameras. I don't care if the city only gets 1/2 the revenue, people need to be recorded breaking the law. And, if they allow fines to pile up, they should bear the consequences.

Traffic violations in Louisiana need to be what broken windows policing was in New York under Giuliani. Start respecting the little things and start getting a more orderly society.

Wow. Looks like the sedan started to run the light, saw the motorcycle and stopped slightly then thought she could beat it. Moto saw sedan start to stop and then planned to pass on the right.

Kind of like a head on where both drivers take the same direction when trying to dodge.

Car ran red which caused accident, but if motorcycle was going the speed limit then probably only he dies.

Car caused accident

Motorcycle caused fatalities in the car

Last year Nicholson was reduced to 25 mph in both directions between Gourrier/Burbank and Aster

Then add in whoever owns that road to be partially at fault. That’s way too low a posted speed and probably gave the driver a fse sense of security

-Lower speed limit to reduce accidents and improve safety.
-Someone speeds 3 times over the posted speed limit and caused fatal wreck.
-Sue the individual that lowered the speed limit

Makes perfect sense.

I’m saying a lawyer could easily sue the person who posted the speed too low. Just posting a speed that low without traffic calming is asking for trouble.

The posted speed limit according to the state policy is to use 85% speed. The 11th edition of the MUTCD allows greater flexibility, but it hasn’t been adopted by Louisiana yet.

The road is posted at a speed nobody would be driving based on the geometry of the road. Whoever did it better have a pretty good study is support a speed that low. A huge speed differential between what someone thinks is safe vs what the road is posted for will cause accidents. You need to get most people driving the same speed.

By your argument wouldn’t posting everything at 5 mph make it that much safer?
