He was conscious but has a spinal injury and a broken leg. Don’t know how serious the spinal injury is though as far as long term damage. The car burned up after he was extracted out of the wreck.

Does I-55 have Crossovers like Causeway? Probably would have helped first responders get there faster.

Yes they do and they did use them.

Actually there is a state that has no speed limits. I think it is Montana

No but has exits to get to 51 or whatever the road is numbered to drive the surface road into Ponchy/Laplace.

There are crossovers but they are normally blocked off by concrete barriers. Not sure if those can be moved in short order. One of the reasons people drive so fast on that stretch is there is no place for the state police to park to use a radar gun.
One thing I have been wondering is whether things like automatic brake sensors could work in dense smoke like that.

Drove across the spillway at like 3:30am and the fog was no joke.
Most dangerous people are the idiots driving 20mph with their flashers on. Can't tell if they're stopped or moving

My brother in law was actually involved in this pileup. Thankfully only his car was damaged. Sad situation.

Yes, i am sure they are more dangerous than the ones going 85 with no regard for safety or the fog .

Nobody was driving 85 in that fog
