Thanks for the map.
Nice job!
I wonder if the driver of the Ford Lightning was planning on detonating the pipe bombs by driving into them.

Please take your foil hat and foolishness elsewhere.

Wonder if/when we will ever find out WHY this guy did this shite
I think we already know the general motive for why he did it. Hint: he had an ISIS flag mounted to his truck.
I’m sure will eventually find out more about his radicalization and ideas, but it seems pretty clear that he was a radical Islamist extremist.

Stop it. A regular f150 would have done just as much damage

FBI no longer believes other suspects were involved in Bourbon Street attack
The FBI and New Orleans police no longer believe there are any other suspects involved in the carrying out of the attack on Bourbon Street, multiple law enforcement sources told ABC News.
After investigators reviewed all of the surveillance videos more closely it appears that the driver placed the IEDs himself and then changed clothes. Those clothes were found in the vehicle, the sources said.
The FBI is still investigating whether there were individuals Jabbar spoke to or messaged with prior to the attack but no one was in the vicinity to help him do anything, the sources said.

So they go up and down OR are they removable?? “Stored” makes me think removable. I’m sure up/down are more expensive but moving/storing takes manpower and time.
EDIT: The new ones go up and down. The old ones were having trouble due to mardi gras beads and other trash clogging the tracks.
Motorized diagonal tracks on the old ones. When retracted, they sit behind the outer bollocks so delivery vehicles can still pass through.

I dont think it makes much difference at all to be honest.

I’d think he wouldn’t have cared and would have tried to plow through them.

You will not stop a motivated killer. If this didn't happen on Bourbon, it could have easily happened on Decatur, Rampart, Esplanade, etc.
I get it, but you can make it harder so that small mistakes made by the killer can seriously frick the plan up. and if this was on those other streets, the casualties would likely be lower. Bourbon is by far the busiest street down there, especially that late at night.
also, this attack ended because he ran into an impediment in the road (the crane) so idk why we're acting like actual working bollards wouldn't have helped.
again, I get it, hard to stop a motivated killer, but at least making it harder for them to be successful can go a long way. all this guy had to do was drive around one parked cop car, hardly an issue there for him.

Then who planted the bombs? Maybe he did do this all on his own, but I fricking doubt it.
It literally says in the text I quoted that he did it, then changed clothes.

he had detonators in the truck with him. I'm just glad he crashed and the cops ended him before it came to that. frightening what could have been, even after the tragedy we're already dealing with.

The WSJ has an outstanding story on him, factual and accurate.
I can't link it as it's behind their paywall, but it is excellent.
Quick summary: He's been/was a frickup for a long time. His military background really is DEI.
I'm not disparaging military folks at all, but this guy never should've been allowed in.

They slide. You can see the tracks on the diagonal

The police car technically did its job in preventing a high speed vehicle from entering Bourbon
False.
If the corner would have been manned instead of the cops sitting in their car, this could have ended much quicker than 3 blocks.
The electric truck use is minor IMO. The weight and acceleration of the electric truck is more of a factor than the quietness. A 250 diesel isn’t all that lunch louder. It would have been more durable to taking out balcony supports.

I've never understood why they don't have hard points on the sidewalks that double as trash cans?
It's hard to truly shut an area down; however, there are some low effort ways of strengthening an area without going full Patriot Act.

Surely you don't mean manned as in cops standing there would have stopped this any sooner. They'd have just been teh first casualties instead.
