And because of these, those who want to do harm will find another way. There is no way to keep people safe 100% of the time.

That in no way means that you shouldn’t put in hardened risk mitigation and control what can be controlled. I don’t understand why this concept is so hard to grasp. Saying frick it we can’t prevent anything is idiotic

If this didn't happen on Bourbon, it could have easily happened on Decatur, Rampart, Esplanade, etc.

EDIT for wtf: There aren't pedestrians walking down the middle of the street on those roads. They're are plenty CROSSING the street.
Also, there's constant bumper to bumper traffic that would slow the driver down.

Check out the bollards in front of Cafe Du Monde and Jackson Square.

I mean, the flag could be a plant to be fair just so we don’t question it further.

For God's sake...before you write stupid sympathizing bullshite, look at the Canal street video before he takes his hard right onto Bourbon and you can see the flag flying off the flagpole on his bumper...not a plant.

I would counter that wasting money and resources an ineffective grandstanding is idiotic, but that's just me.

On all streets in the FQ? Still not gonna stop something like this from happening again if someone is motivated to do so. You will just change the location by a block or two.

You are right, but that doesn't mean you don't take the preventative measures that you can.

Has there been any update on increased security measures for the Sugar Bowl today? I’ve seen some articles, but details are sparse and the governmental platitudes we are being fed aren’t making me feel warm and fuzzy.

It's pretty self explanatory. You agree that the stuff you're talking about doing won't stop this. So why do it?

One on each sidewalk in addition to the traffic control device in the street would’ve deterred this event

How is Beale Street in Memphis secured?

That may be the closest to Bourbon?

Does Beale have bollards on sidewalks, too, or is it just the street?

Dude. Crossing the street, yes. Actually walking down the middle of the street, no.

I drive through there pretty regularly, and we just aren't going to agree.

I'm going to say sucky reporting because no one helping him doesn't make sense with the Air BnB determined as arson.

The owner of the airbnb would know how many people were on the reservation. He could have lied of course. If there is a ring camera or if the neighbors have some cameras they could figure out pretty quickly if he was alone.

Its a freaking pink house with massive solar panel array on top. Kinda easy to see people coming and going from a joint like that.

Save for the deaths, I don’t even know what to believe yet. If it weren’t for the Trump Building car bomb, I’d probably take the ISIS flag for its word, but there are disturbing similarities between the two killers that’s giving me pause on that.

I mean, whatever. You’re free to be a dumbass and believe whatever you want. I just wish you’d shut the frick up about it.

If the corner would have been manned instead of the cops sitting in their car, this could have ended much quicker than 3 blocks.

What would a cop on foot to do? That truck plowed through a crowd right there, a single cop would’ve gotten smoked like everyone else imo.
