Question, if you know it is coming, is it better to jump in your car and drive perpendicular to tornado direction?

Way too many variables at play to answer this.

There isn’t much of anything between Bigbee & the River. It’s a bottom that floods. Once you cross the river into Amory there are houses, 2 boat building factories & the grocery store.

Guy on YouTube I’m watching may have been exaggerating but he said it was 2 miles wide and is down to 1 mile wide now. That’s insane

Ryan Hall?

the point he was trying to make was 'maybe it's decreased in strength a bit... but it's still a monster, violent tornado'

That wouldn’t be my recommendation. Particularly at night when you can’t see a tornado well. Best bet is to be on the lowest floor of a sturdy structure, near the center and away from windows. Underground if possible.

The professional weather communities answer? Absolutely not

My answer? Only if you are DAMN SURE that you are going well away from the tornadoes path. They are a lot less predictable than most people thing and god forbid it lifts and drops in a different place or drops a second tornado....

Basically, I think it depends on how good your shelter is wherever you are located

Yeah that’s him. Had never watched him until tonight but he seems pretty well versed in what he’s talking about

If it was something crazy like an EF4 or stronger, it was headed directly to me and I had at least 10 minutes, I would try to get away unless I had a basement or shelter

Suck in some rain-cooled air and cut off the inflow.

Close. Give it another 15ish and it should just be rain.

It doesn’t look as good on radar as it did a few minutes ago. Hopefully it’s weakening.

Smithville has a big tornado shelter. The high school gym was rebuilt as a tornado shelter

It has gone through a transition. Cut off a bit to its South with a more RIJ and RIN look to it now. Still potent, but hopefully a less violent trend.
