I woke up a few days ago and it’s like hearing with cotton balls in both of my ears.
I first I thought maybe they were just clogged with wax or water but I cleaned them both really well and I don’t think that is the problem. My wife insists that I probably have allergies that’s doing it, but I don’t have any other symptoms like sneezing or a scratchy throat. I hoped it would go away but it still here and I am on day 3, any advice to get rid of this or what might be causing it?

Also those of you who have experienced similar things, how long does it take to go away?

It’s really quite annoying

Go to an ear doctor and get the wax buildup removed. I had the same problem a few years ago.

Are those the Celine wash solution things? I guess that’s what I’m gonna do. Maybe it really is just wax build up even though I’ve washed my ears out pretty thoroughly now. I guess I need to break down and go get one of those kits

Go to the doctor ASAP. Could be nothing but fwiw my dad just had this happen and it was a rare autoimmune respone in the inner ear that WILL result in permanent hearing loss if you don't get it treated immediately.

If you have a history having waxy ears then get a squeeze bulb at the drug store and gently squeeze your ears. It can take a while to get the wax loosened up but it will work. I'd do that before going to a Doc. But be careful. Be gentle but firm in the squeeze. And use luke-warm water.

Yeah. Wax that is really packed in there won’t be removed with the basic stuff. I went into a minute clinic when I lost hearing on one side. And she got a huge chunk out that took some work even with here water pump. When that came out, I suddenly realized I needed the other ear as well.

Hydrogen peroxide helps soften it before flushing it out with warm water in a syringe or bulb. I had it done at an urgent care once when I got an earwax clog after diving and trying to get it out myself with a drugstore kit.

Could be inner ear congestion. Take a pseudofed or something like that.

This is what caused my deafness. Started as “muffled,” within hours total loss of hearing. Dr. called it “auto-immune inner ear disease.” Oh, btw, there is no cure.

Swollen sinuses will pinch your ear canals.

Go to the Dr for a shot of cortisone and a prescription of ear drops for anti inflammation.
