I will be flying next month and parking at US Park as always. What is different about his, other than a little distance?

I use the US Park on veterans now. Traffic on the terminal road is the issue. If the driver can quickly get in his lane the traffic vans are ok but if someone cuts them off you might sit a pretty long time. The police had the entire traffic circle cut off Friday night coming out of the short term parking and the cell phone lot and that backed traffic up on the approach road to the arrivals a long way.

handling exponentially more people---only the dumbest traveler in the world would compare those two to MSY. Why should we spend a billion dollars plus on a new terminal and then accept poorer service?

I am comparing this to the same number of people that went in and out of the old terminal and did it much more efficiently.

I still say if we opened just a single concourse in the old terminal and let one airline move out of the new terminal we would have a MUCH better facility and have much better service for the Louisiana flying public.

They plan to push almost all of it down. Lets use some of it so we can grow.

I don't understand the hate for this. Admit we screwed up the road system and do something about it that will help immensely.

It may be physically larger but MSY has fewer flight operations than does DAL.

We’ve covered this. The airport is not for frequent flyers. It’s for tourists. This is not odd since tourism is the major industry. Tourists don’t care about a slight delay getting to or from the interstate. Many don’t rent cars and thus do not care about a shuttle ride to the facility. In this vein, it’s not unusual to need a shuttle ride to a rental car facility, so many visitors think nothing of this.

I’ve flown out of the new MSY 6x since it opened and really haven’t noticed anything less convenient than the previous iteration. I had to switch my parking from park n fly to US Park, but getting to the terminal isn’t materially more difficult or time consuming.

don't rent car at MSY but we didn't have to use buses to get the tourist and business people that come here to the rental car facility before. Are you seriously saying buses are better than walking a short distance to the rental car facility?

Flying in on Southwest and walking to the rental car facility with your luggage was not a short distance, especially when it’s raining with that shitty arse walkway they built. Again, people who actually travel don’t think anything about taking a shuttle to a rental facility. You’re just coming up with dumb shite to bitch about. The old terminals are done, give up your shtick

I don't know why you are personally attacking me for telling you my experiences there.

You are the idiot that says MSY handles more traffic than DAL.

You are also the idiot that would rather stand in line to ride a shuttle several minutes to a rental facility than to have a short walk like the old terminal and like BNA is still today.

"DCtiger"---are you a Landrieu?

You’ve never rented a car at MSY and yet you’re bitching about it. You act as if shuttles are some ground breaking thing that is only used at MSY.

Again, you just look for shite to complain about every damn day. You’re a miserable human being.

Posting from my gate:

From Interstate to Terminal Gate took 27 minutes. That includes Short Term Parking, great by the way, talking to a guy in parking lot about tonight’s game for probably 2 minutes, TSA Pre-ck and no bag checked, and walking to a C Gate. Monday Morning flight. The airport is NOT empty this morning.

Again I was a very frequent flier, 30 weeks of travel last year. My 2 experiences through MSY were MUCH better than the normal airport this size. My expectation was way worse.

Thought this was becoming the standard for airports. Car Rental is off site. Denver is the same way and I’ve never thought of it as inconvenient...just seems normal. In the grand scheme of this airport, a detached rental car facility is minuscule.

OP got passed over for a contract and has a major axe to grind. I left this morning for my 10th flight out of the NT and have never had a single issue.

If you’ve literally been to any airport built in the last 30 years the setup is strikingly similar at MSY. All airports use roundabouts. I can’t help it if people in SELA are fricking stupid.

The roundabout is not the problem. The inadequate, boxed-in, winding, pedestrian-clogged, criss-crossing lanes at the arrivals gate that back up past the entrance to short-term parking are the problem.
The roundabout is just used by the desperate airport management as a choke-point to try to cover up the disastrous design flaw.

IAH is too. Many major airports are this way now.

Be it film credits, tarrifs, or a new terminal, when you discover a topic, you lock on and refuse to admit when you are wrong.

Considering how much you trash airport officials, do you really think they could run two different terminal buildings?

Moving SW would require a ton of new support services. Very inefficient.

I'm starting to think you would have a financial incentive here. Are you wanting to get the concessions contract or something?

Its almost as if...and hear me out for a second, this is a wild idea...

It is a shtick.

IB Chinaman is playing a character of the anarchist libertarian where government shouldn't even exist and literally anything they do has to be opposed, no matter how big or small.

The airport is nice. Almost everyone likes it. It has some issue that are correctable that all airports do.

Move on.

I've been through the new MSY terminal, out and back in, three times, and I dropped by daughter there yesterday. It's always been extremely easy to access and leave, and very well organized. I have not experienced any design or execution issues at all. In fact, its been significantly better than the old MSY in my experience.

how about instead of whining about having to adjust to the new airport, how about you adjust to the new airport?
