Sitting in the new terminal now. Parked and got through security in 15 minutes. No complaints.

People want the new airport to be a disaster sooooo badly. There are 3 threads every week where people make up bullshite problems even though all reports of the new airport have been great. I B Freeman has been complaining since before it even fricking opened. It’s like the new airport fricked his GF or something.

So what’s your background and/or experience in airport design? Surprised someone with your expertise wasn’t on the design/build team for the new airport, sounds like they really could have used you.

A half hour on terminal roads and buses is ok with you???

At that old terminal I could park at US Park and be standing at the gate in 15 minutes easily.
I will be flying next month and parking at US Park as always. What is different about his, other than a little distance?

It took us 10 minutes of waiting before we were "allowed" to cross from the terminal to get to the parking garage. Pickup of other passengers at a slow pace kept "police" from allowing us to cross.

I flew in Friday around 6pm and had a 2 min wait to cross to long term.

Landed at 5:45 and was back in BR at 7:05.

Everything I read here says new terminal is good to great.

Now it does seem the new 10 exchange is unnecessary.

You don’t travel much at all. Your complaints are standard across most airports.

You’re seriously complaining about a bus ride to the rental car facility????

New terminal is great. They need to speed TSA up and figure out the rental car location distance issue, besides that, no complaints

I landed at 7:35 this morning and was in an Uber with checked bags at 8:15. It was absolutely smooth as silk. Maybe you just suck as a traveler.

A few minutes ago, traffic to the arrival gate was gridlocked and backed up almost to the cell phone (traffic holding) lot.

And don’t tell me it’s a big travel weekend. It’s a billion dollar airport in a town that survives off of tourism. Heavy travel days should have been a part of the design criteria.

Except that they haven’t just spent a billion dollars to become “state-of-the-art”.

Eta: that's getting and returning a rental car

That's a damn lie. Thst bus ride to/from the rental facility is no less than 20 minutes.

Simply relaying my experiences with the new terminal roads.

Are you saying that you think the design of the roads is good and "world class"?

I don't rent car at MSY but we didn't have to use buses to get the tourist and business people that come here to the rental car facility before.

Are you seriously saying buses are better than walking a short distance to the rental car facility?

You don't know s***. I travel out of MSY at least 25 times a year and I drop family off there a couple of times a week.

I was against the new terminal as we local flyers had a very good service at the old one BUT that is not why I am complaining now (and offering a good suggestion for improvement). I am complaining now because that traffic on the terminal roads around that a traffic circle and to the arrivals area is horrible and VERY poorly designed.

How many times have you made that drive since the new terminal opened? How many times have you been there and the traffic circle was being throttled by police?

At least four for me. I have dropped people off or flew out the terminal at least a dozen times since it opened. There is nothing about the new terminal that is any better than the old one but that is not where the new terminal fails (my plane was delayed leaving on one flight because the luggage belts were not working and they weren't getting the plane loaded). The new terminal fails in handling traffic.

I encourage you to have someone drop you off tomorrow or Tuesday morning to experience the cluster that the traffic circle and arrival and departure drops create in even a little bit of heavy traffic.
