MSY Airport Parking

For those that have flown out of MSY recently, would you suggest parking at the airport garage, the MSY economy lot with the express check in, or use an off-site lot like Park N Fly?
This will be my first trip out of the new MSY with my family and I'm just trying to plan ahead to what might be the least stressful option. Leaving on Sunday night.

Your driver can drop you off at the departures gate.

US Park has a coupon for first 5 nights are $5 or something, regularly like $14. I recently parked at the new one on veterans. The shuttle got us there pretty quick.

I parked on the surface lot. Plenty of spots when I flew out on a Friday for the SEC Championship game. Probably would have gone to the economy lot if I were paying attention.
My wife and I did the Hilton stay and fly package before that. It took about 40 minutes to take the shuttle from the Hilton.
Before the new terminal I would use Park N Fly (and make a reservation ahead of time). I don't know the best way, but the two options above worked without issue.

This.
Did this last weekend. In and out relatively quickly. Getting to the US Park lot was easy to get too as well.

I flew into and out of MSY last week. Can't help you on the parking but:
1) The new terminal is nice
2) Eating choices are great
3) The rental car area is too far away - 20 minute bus ride? Seriously? wtf

I park at long term cause its convenient. It's $20 a day.
Economy is like $8 a day if you have the time and dont mind the shuttle ride time.

I fly out nearly every week and short term is always full of spots. This week there were over 700 open spots in short term. It’s $22 per day.

In the future I’ll use the economy lots south of the runways.
I used the new long term parking garage for a couple hours more than a day, and the charge was for 2 full days. Incremental charges are only applied the first day.
The rate is $20/day in long term, which is $2 less than short term. Useless. Both lots have short term rates.

Mitch said the airport was built for the next 100 years. So I assume that means at some point, we will be able to teleport from baggage claim to rental car area.
Just gotta be patient, friend! It's coming soon, I think.

I've flown twice so far, both without checked luggage, parked in the new long term garage both times, no issues at all.
Next time I have checked bags, I might check out the economy garage just because I'm curious how the bag drop works.
Next time I don't have checked bags, I'll probably just park in short term garage, since the price difference isn't much at all.

Go to USPark.net and claim the first time user coupon. It’ll save you $15 or $20 per day for the first five days.

My advice? Don't fly out of that place. What a shitshow.
Who in the hell designed the terminal? And who in the hell was responsible for not having a boulevard built to get people to the new terminal?
What a crappy joke, but I shouldn't be surprised, it is New Orleans after all, the home of idiots and morons.

I flew out of it last week. Parked in Short term parking, went through security in a matter of a few minutes. What’s wrong with the design of the terminal? I understand the pickup and drop off areas are a mess, but what’s wrong with the actual terminal once you are inside? It was very nice, had plenty of dining options, and was easy to navigate.

What the hell are you talking about? There is a 4 lane (really 6) leading to and from the airport.

Would be text book commercialism to be able to teleport but still take airplanes places.

I've flown in and out a few times and parking isn't bad. The previous posters have already covered it, but USPark has a new lot on Veterans. Go to their website and they have coupons for discounts on daily rates and also a discount for reserving ahead of time. I flew right before Thanksgiving, which is typically one of the busiest times and there was available parking on the surface lot and long term garage. I haven't parked in the short term garage, so I can't speak on that. Everything is pretty convenient. There was a small bottle neck getting back on the interstate at Loyola, but other than that, the new airport was great.
