If they open Bonnet Carre it means the ACoE is bored and wants to play with their toys. The forecast crest is 16.8 ft and the river will be trending down by next Tuesday and will fall fast. They need to shift their focus to river management instead of using Bonnet Carre as a crutch.

It's the 1.25 mm cu ft per second that triggers it , not the height. Looks like it's going to be real close.

The Louisiana Oystermen Association have entered the chat.....

Huey P. Landry and Billy Nungesser have had their say. You don't get that project anymore, Louisiana.

Texas wants that water but we just piss it away. The entire MS river needs to be managed as a dynamic system. Divert the excess water before it even gets to Louisiana.

Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann
Kinda ironic that a guy with that name would have a problem with diverting a major flow of water.

PS: Hosemann is Catholic from Vicksburg.

Odd demographics for a MS Lt. Governor

D. Hosemann would be a hell of a porn name though.

Nah. Mississippi isn't more important than the central Louisiana coast.

Yeah it is. More at stake in coastal MS.

Fisheries, research, tourism, gaming industry, produce delivery, US Navy, USAF, shipbuilding, USCG, weather service, container vessels, bulk cargo, steel, and on and on.

What's in the atchafalaya basin? Some farmers?

Jammed into 90 miles of coastline that turns into a freshwater lake every few years because some idiots decided to farm in a floodplain?

No.

We're talking about the Bonnet Carre; Spillway...not the Morganza Spillway

Mississippi is only relevant for the Chiquita Bananas Port and a few trashy casinos

People would rather skip Mississippi and just go to Alabama, Louisiana or Texas...and of course Florida

Mississippi claim to fame is Black Spring Break
