No it’s fine. You can go anywhere in N.O. and not even have to worry about locking your car doors.

The northshore is the real shite hole. That's an area you should definitely avoid.

Fair question about the media blowing things out of proportion.
But look up the objective raw data about shootings on I-10 the past couple of years and ask yourself if what you see is normal? Then extrapolate that to ordinary crime…

There are regular mass car burglaries at sports events. There are a lot less police in NOLA since 2015.

You will get great feedback.
Daily New Orleans is a shithole thread.

Facts.
NOPD is below 800 working officers with extended call response times and not even coming out for most non violent crimes.
The DA's office is in disarray with a Soros backed DA refusing to prosecute many crimes.
Crime stats are year over year increasing since COVID.
Vehicle burglaries are rampant and people have taken to leaving cars unlocked to avoid busted windows.
The Mayor gives no fricks.
BUT, NOLA has always had crime. Stick to the water areas and keep your head on a swivel and you will probably be fine.

Been living here over a decade and never had any issues … but you know it’s always a possibility. So far, so good. Little street smarts goes a long way

No. It is worse.

Stay away from St. Charles and MLK, or you you’ll find your truck on Claiborne

If you have situational awareness and know the areas to avoid and when then you'll almost surely be fine. If you're just blindly popping around sketchy places at all hours then you might run into trouble.
I don't live there anymore.

You won't get murdered but you will be the victim of property crimes.

I'm thinking of moving to New Orleans
