I know that people rent their houses out to travel companies for two weeks during the tournament and (no shite) pay the majority of their mortgage for the year. Insane.

It’s generica for the most part.
RhineHart’s is a local place for seafood.
French Market Grill is good. Downtown is trying, but not fully redeveloped. Frog Hollow is a good restaurant downtown.
I play golf, but you won’t have time for that in residency.
The Low cost of living compared to many places doctors train makes it possible for you to have a house rather than an apartment if you want to.
Augusta is within a few hours driving distance of Hilton head and myrtle beach, smoky and blue ridge mountains, Greenville, Columbia, Savannah Charleston, and Atlanta so IF you have a weekend you can easily go somewhere different.

One of my good friends was in a long distance relationship with an MCG resident and they drove between Charleston and Augusta for 2-3 years. She bought a house and made serious bank during Masters week renting to golfers. The golfer was ranked top 10-20 at the time, liked it and ended up renting again next few years. Good money to be had there.

This is my 2nd time getting stationed here and have seen this place grow. Wife and kids love it here. Property value is going up, but you get a whole lot of house for your money, especially in Grovetown. The schools are good and you're not far from anywhere.
If you're going to be working at DDEAMC, I'm pretty sure our paths will cross..especially if you're in the DOS.

Augusta catches a lot of shite, and most of it is deserved, but there are some nice parts to it.
Columbia County (Evans, parts of Grovetown) is a nice area to live, especially if you like doing outdoorsy stuff. That’s where I’m from originally, and I like going back.
They’re doing a good job of revamping the downtown Augusta area. There are good restaurants and breweries popping up all over the place, and some pretty decent bars if y’all are social.
North Augusta is Augusta without the hood. Decent bars and nice neighborhoods but still not a lot to do. Strip malls run rampant all over the area, so get used to it.
Good luck with your move. And FYI the lake is known as Clarks Hill Lake on the Georgia side, not Strom Thurmond.
