Yeah. I'm finishing grad school in May & should have a more than adequate salary, but it's nice to know the option to save if there if I choose to go that route.

yeah I lived with my parents during the summers when I was 18-22
as long as I helped around the house every now and then and cleaned up after myself, they pretty much let me do my own thing
I sure miss my Mom making breakfast for me every morning...

Haven't lived at home since 17. Not sure how I could live at home in my 20's.

My parents hardly suck and I love them to death but my time under their roof was over the day I graduated high school

Definetly working out for me so far and they're still only a 5 minute drive away if I need anything

The biggest thing in my mid 20s would have been bringing randoms home or the parties I'd have after the bar closed. Can't do that living at your parents

when i lived with my mom after i had to move back quickly after law school (to work), this happened a couple times and she didn't care. it was rare, and not exactly something that got girls to come over, though
but, we're talking about me here, so it wasn't a big deal

just bring them to a friends house. one of my buddies lived with his mom and sister and would always bring randoms home from the bar. he even named the damn room he used

Don't ever put the option on them. I never brought it up, but I know for a fact my dad would dropkick me in the face if I asked to move back in with him. You go to college and you leave. I'm pretty sure they threw a party when I left.
My sister talked to my parents about moving back in after college cause she was broke. My dad did this long-winded calculations of how much the home was valued and what it could earn as a rental property and the cost of utilities, blah blah blah and told her that sure she could move back in for $1100 a month hahaha.

Your GF has already moved on.
She's just letting you down gently due to your sensitive nature.

Damn. Your Dad sounds like a ton of fun.

There's no way your parents' trailer would cost that much.

This concept of adolescence and the later and later acceptance of it is screwing us up as a country IMO. Sounds like your dad did what most animals do and prepare young that are ready to leave the nest. It's not a matter of him sounding fun. It is a matter of a father raising his young to be adults. Tough love isn't always fun.

Moved out at 17. Never moved back. But will stay there for weeks on in when in town on vacation. Love my parents.

Why is that Dad expecting rent shitty? Why does he have to be fun? Sounds like he is raising his kids to fend for themselves where they are not reliant on others to actually sustain themselves. I am sure his Dad would help his kids if they actually required it, this just sounds like he is teaching them a lesson that they need to grow the frick up and not expect Daddy to bail them out.
Some kids need a boot to the arse to get there.

Idk. Just sounds like a pretty shitty thing to do to your child.
