Why did you have to come here to tell everyone?

Trying to get some pros and cons of each from people who either live there, make the commute, or tell me about each place because I'm not an expert on each city

It makes sense you live in Watson if that's too long for you to read.

No way in hell I would live in pville and drive to Georgia pacific. Zachary/Central is a no brainer. Other poster forgot to mention Stabs.

Commutes should get easier once the Lee/Nicholson interchange is updated

It'll get easier but it won't be until the interstate work is complete.

My wife works in SE Baton Rouge, which is another reason Pville is in the mix

I dont travel either route often at rush hour so I cant say which one is consistently worse. Do you work regular hours? I would hate to be in BR traffic from Zachary to Prarieville everyday during rush hour.

The Mill Manager lives in Denham south of i-12 off 16. Plenty of employees take the backroads from Denham and Central to GP.

I only say Gonzales because if we were to choose that area, we would look for a house near HWY 73/I-10 to make my commute easier. That puts Prairieville, Gonzales, and St.Gabriel into play

Gonzales is also a pretty popular spot for new businesses to pop up but it's also a much trashier place than Pville, even tho they aren't that far apart from another, the difference in the people is big time.

That would be the tipping point for me.

You might have mentioned it, but where does your wife work?

Traffic probably won't be that unbearable if you are traveling at 6am and coming back at around 6 or 7 after the gym.

That time of day most people are still getting ready for work and aren't on the road

Zachary, hands down, if you are working at GP.

The main thing to get used to is having to plan your trips into BR well to get supplies from Sam's, Costco, etc., as the Walmart sucks.

Don't pick a place based upon this. They have had an awful lot of turn-over since the Koch brothers purchased.

if you have the means to backchannel me, do it. I am editing all this b/c I have a LOT of friends still around there.

But I recommend staying long enough to keep a sign-on bonus 1 year and 3 years for vesting. Then, like 95% of their ELE's, leave for a much better job 15 miles away.
