Glassdoor reviews for GP in Baton Rouge... 16 reviews and not a single one recommends working there. All negative reviews.

That's why I was shocked they found someone from the area.

Personally, I would look for an older well-built house in Fennwood.

Oh, you would? LOL

Me and the wife will be moving there soon. I am also taking notes on the traffic as we will be driving in to downtown BR. The drive seems to be OK the few times we have driven to go look at the house.

Wait a year or 2. You may hate working for GP. They do have a huge workforce turnover. Time is on your side.

Well I'm trying to stay positive about starting a new job but mikelbr is starting to make me second guess it

Knowing my wife, it will probably take about a year for us to decide on a house, so that could be a plus

You fricker, I said this on her facebook post about Fennwood.
Very nicely built hood with good community feel. I know a few in there and I used to run through Fennwood back in my fit days 08-10. I know those streets and houses well.

If you are coming up 61 to 110, the drive is fairly brisk except on the odd occasion you get a train.

Through Baker up 19 is worse due to more traffic and speed cameras but tolerable.

If they get rid of KH and Koch sells it off, move up there. Until then, commute. :cheer:

What area are you going into? I like a few managers still there like Maintenance mgr, DS. But if you go work for a female over Tissue, KL, you're fricked. quit now.

It's all good. I knew ya'll had chatted about it on there.

I'm looking forward to it. We'll probably be moving in mid to late July.

Public Works is in the process of adding sidewalks to Fennwood.

The main thing I would check for is that the house didn't flood in August, as there is at least one house I pass by constantly out there which appears to be in a low spot with a for sale sign.

GP BR:

quote:

There are no raises. Seen over 50 employees quit in a short span. That is just not herd of in such a large company. Did not see the company or management make any changes to prevent that from continuing .

quote:

Salary personnel has no time to hear about the real issues.
Don't have an issue on the weekend, salary is OFF!!!
Only want "YES" men to be Performance Coaches
Pay scale does not keep up with other plants around the area
Equipment is old and outdated
Run til failure with zero preventative maintenance and then when it breaks, operator is blamed
Fired a high number of seasoned workers to save money

quote:

Family/work life balance non existent - Company could care less if you work 80+ hours a week and promise of bonus is a sham. Location specific

quote:

Worst management ever, slow pay progression, weak union, labor intensive.

quote:

So many people have left that there is a skill deficit in the service groups. Pay policies are pretty unpopular. Bonus system is non-existent. Beaurocracy is extremely burdensome - big reason many have left for greener pastures.

quote:

New management. High stress environment. Lots of whining and complaining. High turn over. No raises. Bonuses are far less than told during interviews. Writing is on the wall for a plant closure. Top talent leaving daily. Very much an old boys network.

quote:

Horrible vacation, health benefits, really horrible management. Anyone who is salary is considered your boss. No teamwork this is a starter company. Get some experience and run fast and far away from this place.

Bad pay and some new guy got raped in the bathroom. Don't work here.
