Wife and I have been talking about it for about 2 years that when we have kids, we want to put them in a good school system
No kids yet, but with everything going on in BR with this awful mayor and her sidekicks, the wife and I are starting to seriously consider moving a little ahead of schedule

Trying to decide between Zachary and Prairieville/Gonzales

Need help for the pros/cons of each
Here is what I got:

Zachary:
Pros- good schools, safe communities, good golf, location of my new job
Cons- In EBR Parrish, nothing much to do (food and entertainment), farther away from family

Prairieville/Gonzales:
Pros- good schools, safe communities, more places to go (food and entertainment), closer to family, not in EBR Parrish
Cons- Far drive to work, building fast/getting crowded, traffic

No pics of wife
I posted a few of her and I in a lunch thread months back about posting pics of your wife

Thanks

where do you work? if closer to DT then go the Zach route if closer to SBR then go the prarieville route

Zach has #1 school system in the state. As far as food choices....they have a sammys and walk ons. Plus some other good restaurants.

Pville. Closer to BR while still having all those pros. Hot spot for new businesses

There is literally nothing to do in Zachary/Central area

I personally would never trade terrible traffic for the sake of being closer to a Chili's. Take the better quality of overall life and relax would be my choice.

Zachary and Central have the best two public school districts in the burbs. You are correct that there isn't as much to do in those areas as in Prarieville but they are closer to your work and generally a little less expensive. The commute from P'ville to Zachary would suck arse.

I've never been a big fan of Gonzales and the commute would be worse than P'ville.

Pville is definately on the uppity.A house in either area would be a good investment IMO

traffic going in and out of BR towards Zach is non-existent. Compared to going to Praireville its a fricking hell hole.

I'm in the same boat as far as deciding where to move. We both work in S Baton Rouge so we are leaning towards Gonzales. I'm a bit worried the traffic situation is going to get worse going to Gonzales. If I worked in Zachary I would absolutely live out there.

The main reason I was thinking Zachary, besides it's where I'll be working

I have been checking traffic in the mornings for the past few days and at 6am, it's about a 30-40 minute commute... in the afternoons is a different story

I only say Gonzales because if we were to choose that area, we would look for a house near HWY 73/I-10 to make my commute easier. That puts Prairieville, Gonzales, and St.Gabriel into play

My wife works in SE Baton Rouge, which is another reason Pville is in the mix

Let me help you out. I work in Zachary near Coppermill and commute from Watson every day. It is a peaceful 36 minute drive that I actually enjoy rather than fighting with the BR bullshite. The home I purchased in Watson would have cost me another 100-150k in Zachary or Central.

Why did you have to come here to tell everyone?

I work in South BR and several of my colleagues live in Prarieville. They are lucky to make it here in less than 45 minutes. It could just be that all of the colleges are out and it's the end of the school year. Traffic is much lighter this time of year.

Construction on the widening of I-10 from 73 to Highland begins in June and will go 18-24 months.

In addition, the corrupt political system here, continues to approve new neighborhoods when it is obvious the area is already well over capacity based on the existing infrastructure. Infrastructure which is inadequately maintained much less expanded as it should've been.

I vote for Zachary for no reason other than that I grew up there.

I live in Dutchtown. My commute is down 74 to 30 and on towards downtown. It takes me 30 minutes to get to work and 45 to get home. Commutes should get easier once the Lee/Nicholson interchange is updated
