Moved out of EBR Parish a year ago but not far. That was at least a start. Unfortunately my work cannot be done remotely and my book of business does not move. But at least once a week in my mind I start the beginning of an exit strategy. This state has so many awesome attributes. But the politicians have made it a challenge to remain living here. Jealous of y’all.

Congrats on the move. Very nice area. Spent some time in the Staunton/Weyers Cave areas and really enjoyed it.

You’ll never miss it, congrats!

OMG, a gorgeous place. Congratulations. You did the right thing.
You went north. I went west, as in Texas. My move was job-related and I ain't gonna lie, I missed Louisiana terribly. But then over the years, I came to realize leaving Louisiana was the best thing that ever happened to me. The opportunities here in Texas are boundless. Texas does have beautiful scenery, but it's still hot and humid like Louisiana. That's okay. A lot of things to do in Texas. Hill Country is gorgeous, especially in the spring.
Now if we can just keep the crooked democrats from screwing up Texas like they did Louisiana we should be okay. Creepy Corrupt Joe Biden and his pals (Beto O'Rourke et al) are doing their best to turn Texas blue. Hopefully, they'll fail. The next round of 2022 mid-term elections should give us a good indication the direction Texas is headed. Just in case, I've got my eyes on Utah and Tennessee. Watching the political leanings of those states carefully. I refuse to live in a state governed by crooked democrats. Democrats destroy everything in their path.
Anyway, enjoy your new home.

Congrats OP on the move and good luck. Hope you guys have a happy life (like most people who move out of state do).

His private school options are very limited there.

I'm jealous. My dad grew up in the valley. It is beautiful country and I would love to live there. Some of my fondest memories were visiting my grandparents and spending time in the Blueridge mountains.

Must be nice to not be stuck in LA. I’ll probably fricking die here because of the roots that are down here. It’s a terrible terrible feeling. This place is the the armpit of the country.

No it doesn't. I left in 1989, besides my marriage and son, best move I ever made.

DC is just a couple hour drive away.
That’s not a plus in my book.
Put the politics aside, DC is a fascinating place to visit, at least during the day

Good for you and congratulations on the new location.
That is my plan when the wife finally retires from work. I too would love to live in an area with 4 real seasons instead of just cool and sweltering.
The added benefit would be to be far away from the uncertainty of "Hurricane Season" on a yearly basis.

Well played. Sounds a lot like East TN.
