Motorcycle baws of the OT - Does your family hate that you ride?

I don’t ride motorcycles, but the 6 or 7 motorcycle deaths in Baton Rouge in the last month or two have me wondering how anyone has the balls to go on these streets on a motorcycle.

Yes, but it's not a main mode of transportation. Definitely loaded up on life insurance though.

I want a cafe racer pretty bad. Just to go ride backroads on gorgeous spring days like today. I'm not sure if it will ever happen though.

Too many people I know have laid one down. Some have faired better than others. I don't plan on becoming a statistic. I have been on 4 wheels for the last 20 years.

I rode a Dual Sport as a daily commuter for a little over 4 years. Put about 35k miles when I had an old man pull out in front of me. Out like a light and had to have multiple surgeries for internal injuries. Rode for about a year after I healed up, but when I got engaged I sold my bike. I guess as I got a little older I noticed every time I looked into someone’s window they were texting and it wasn’t worth it. Sure I miss it but I had enough close calls besides my accident to just look back at youth and know I had fun.

Gotta give it to you baws that bike. I myself prefer 3000 lbs of steel and airbags protecting me from a crash, but that’s just me

I love it but I hardly ever take mine into any populated area. Just not worth it with the amount of drivers and not fun anyway to sit at traffic lights every quarter mile.
I live in the rolling hills of PA so it's prime back country roads. Love taking relaxing early morning rides on the weekends before most people are out.
I definitely get nervous cause it is so dangerous. I just say a prayer every time when I ride and keep my guard up constantly.

I rode motorcycles from the time i got my first “motor-driven cycle” permit when I was 14 until just a few months ago when my doctor told me it was just not safe for me to ride any more due to the blood thinner dosage I’m on. The day the dr. Broke the news to me my wife of almost 22 years told me it was one of the biggest reliefs of her life.

I have never laid one down, but I do know its a matter when and not if. I ride 3-4 times a week, and have used it as my main form of transportation for a few years, however not nearly as much lately. I get the “be carefuls” from family and friends but I dont believe any of them have a real problem with it. If I were to get t-boned by a pickup or a 17 yr old texter Im sure they would change their tune. I suppose its the risk you take when getting on every time. If you have never been on a bike, it will be difficult to understand but its an amazing feeling leaning into a curve on a country road and the bike just gripping the road at an angle that seems to defy physics.
