Spend some time browsing unsecure shared drive folders. Steal as much open Intel as you can. That's my advice.

I'm no boss, but if I was that would be my approach. You're either with me or you aren't.

Most people, regardless of the situation they faced at their soon to be former workplace, have too much pride to do shite half-assed.

I was always someone who busted my arse to be good at what I did.

I gave the company I worked for more than a month notice -- I was going to move out of the area, which is why I was leaving.

They trusted me to work hard up to the end and I did.

If you were a model employee, your company will probably be okay with you working up to the last second. If you were a lazy slouch, they'll try to get rid of you as soon as they possibly can.

I suppose that's true whether you're leaving or not, FWIW.

the quality of the project you are putting out. You never know if you will meet someone from that company down the road. They dont remember the good work but they remember the bad work.

Both are my projects are for companies I'd love to work for. Both launch rockets and both are growing...so yea, there's the damn motivation.

Absolutely. I want to solve big problems, not small ones though. Being the boss sounds like 90% the latter.

I applied up there. My gf laughed at me for applying for a rocket scientist job.

My bosses for jobs that I've quit have all been assholes. They were part of the reason I quit. When I put in notice, they flipped out, told me not to touch anything, and get out of the building

In the future, you can't predict who will be hiring you. Make sure that the only words about you are positive and that you maintain good relationships.

Do your best and then some. What goes around, comes around, more times than you'd imagine.

My boss is ultimately the reason as well. I like him, I just don't think his focus is in the right direction.

Just gave my employer my 2 weeks notice this past Friday.

I thought they would just tell me to finish out the day, but they would like me to help them find my replacement and also help train him or her.

I've actually stayed motivated since putting in my notice, so that if things don't work out at the new job I have the opportunity to come back here.

Didn't we talk about this in the no cell phones thread? That's how you get five years in a federal pound me in the arse prison.

That's a quick turn around.

Why are you leaving?

Yup. No one should let me anywhere near a rocket. Red buttons are my Achilles heel, but I figured I'd give it a shot.

Luckily for me, the jobs I've quit had a-hole bosses. It made the decision easy. Since you're gonna be working in the same industry, I'd continue on like I wasn't quitting. Never know when you'll come across those people again

Right out of college, I landed a dream teaching job. Awesome rural school and a 4 day school week. My wife got back into school in BR, so we had to leave. I felt so awful leaving. My advisory teacher told me I would be replaced in a day, and they would forget about me. frick em bro. Wrap up what you need to get the job done and check out early. Go on a vacation with the extra time.

I got offered a job that gets me out of oil and gas. I've been doing safety in the oil/gas industry for about 11 years, and have been laid off 3 times, and am tired of the roller coaster ride. When things are good they are good, but when it slows down everything goes downhill quick.

I like where I'm currently working, but the opportunity to get out of the oil/gas industry and get into a more stable market is something I can't turn down.

Pay is about the same (just a little more with the new job), but benefits are better. Along with a 401k, they will also offer a plan in which they put 8% of my salary into a pension type thing. Vacation and paid holiday schedule are also better.

Yes. A new start always brought me enthusiasm, being in a rut always kept me pushing things off and not attacking my work. The thought of wrapping it all up and moving on would get me going
