Gosh, that was my back up plan. I do OSHA PSM type of work, mechanical integrity mostly, for government sites...but I see the salary on your (old) side and think the 70 mile drive to work may be worth it.

They just test at Stennis, and I'm going back there...but I've been working launch sites for a few years and it's nice.

I'm already jaded, but damn that might have earned a bit of a pointing match.

Think George Costanza and the Penske file.

I do more of the occupational health and safety.
It's not bad, but like I mentioned job security isn't the best in oil/gas, and safety always seems like one of the first things to go.
If you do PSM, you'd probably have no problem learning SEMS (it's very similar), you could probably get a job with BSEE (Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement).

I learned it as MI (mechanical integrity) and CI...sure it's changed by now.

because they sent you a paycheck twice a month for the past __ years? pretty cut and dry hoss.
Days work for a days pay, anyone thinking they owe something to the company has never been the subject of downsizing.

Your only motivation should be to not burn the place to the ground on the way out the door. You owe them nothing.

Told my clients a week before I told my boss. Promised clients a months notice to boss to wrap up and transition projects. Left everyone in a good position and clients followed me to new firm. Sometimes, integrity pays off...
