It's a National Military Park managed by the National Park Service.
The answer is right there in your statement, dumb arse. It's a National Military Park. A National Park is something completely different. And yes, both are managed by the National Park Service.

It’s the least visited because the only ways to get to/from it are a 4 hour ferry ride or a sea plane that costs $500/pp
Also applies to Isle Royale.

I went with my cousin from Redding and didn't remember (or know) it was a National Park. We hiked most of the day and I was worn out (altitude, overweight, and seasoned citizen) by the time we got back.
Bumpass Hell and visited an emerald green lake.
It's been years and had forgotten all about it until this thread.

Heard the bugs are ridiculously atrocious here and at Voyagers National Park

Just went to Redwood in June. Beautiful place but Crescent City is a dump.

I thought Acadia kind of sucked.

And for state parks Custer SP in South Dakota blows away many national parks
I spent a week in the area awhile back. Custer is a real gem.

Bryce Canyon, not far from Zion and spectacular. It's definitely underrated by a lot. The most underrated, probably not.
We enjoyed Bryce more than Zion too. But I think it comes down to how much time you have. Bryce is great for a day trip while a single day at Zion probably isn't worth it.

Don’t sleep on Cuyahoga in Ohio, it’s surprisingly good for a park close to urban areas.

Indiana Dunes. Relatively newly designated, but makes for a great day-trip

Wrangell-St Elias.
Gates of the Arctic. Both remote and almost completely undeveloped. They have no for casual tourists, only hard core backpackers and mountaineering go there.

North Cascades, easily. No one goes there, but it's incredible.

Indiana Dunes
Is arse
Hike up some sand hills to stand on a beach littered with Indians and you can see the Chicago skyline across the lake …. And a fricking factory immediately to your right on the boundary of the “park”….
Not to mention driving through Gary Indiana to get there.
Glad I crossed it off the list. It’s awful.
Big Bend was awesome. After finishing the Lost Mine trail hike … I was in the top of this peak. And you can see down into the desert valley across into Mexico.
Pure. Pristine. Dry rolling mountains and hills.
It was the first time I could see horizon to horizon and not see a single sign of civilization. Felt as alone and secluded as I ever have in my life. Was quite amazing.

U.S. Virgin Islands National Park

Cumberland Island National Seashore. A fairly short ferry ride from St Marys, Georgia. Great place to visit for a day or camp and spend a few days. Miles of beach, wild horses, the remains of a mansion.
Capitol Reef, Utah. Good trails and way less crowded than Zion, Bryce, or Arches.

If you're looking for National Parks that are off the beaten path or less crowded then go to State Parks instead. Lots of amazing state parks that don't get the attention they deserve.

Does a National Battlefield Park count?
Everybody knows Gettysburg but another awesome but underrated and seldom mentioned one is Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, if you are into Civil War stuff especially. And it's just outside Atlanta in Marietta GA, so not exactly remote.

I’ve been there, and I still don’t really understand how it’s a national park. I mean, any area out in the trees can be peaceful and serene, but there’s nothing in this place that wows you.
