Most drivers don’t know what the hell yield actually means
yes and they stop at them which is very dangerous and very annoying

Traffic lights should have same rules as stop signs when there is no cross traffic
This most definitely.

I've had 2 tickets in the last 30 years. One for a California stop, just like you described. The other was for doing 145 on an empty highway (except for the sheriff hiding). I deserved the second one. The other - not so much.
I've been driving for 30 years but I had a handful of tickets when I was a teenager.
I can only think of 2 in the past 20 years, that one and a speeding ticket that I got on Antioch Road in maybe 2005.
I did get one for 50 in a 20 when I was about 17. I didn't know that was a school zone

They need to stop using stop signs to try to slow down drivers. That’s not what a stop sign is for. Neighborhoods petition to get useless stop signs in random places that don’t need them because they claim people are speeding.
This right here. It was a huge pissing match in my last neighborhood about this. They refused to put in speed bumps/humps because of the “liability”, so they wanted stop signs. Despite presenting multiple studies/evidence that this does not work, they went with them anyway. Main responses I got were “DoNt yOu CaRe aBoUt tHe ChiLdReN!?”
Once they went up, the people who were speeding just ignored them anyway lol. It was so frustrating. Now you have kids/people assuming a vehicle will stop and instead they blow through the stop sign all the same.

Most stop signs should be replaced with yield signs Change my mind
Y’all can’t even follow the simple instructions to stop with a stop sign as it is. What makes you think yield is going to be any different. People ignore them as it is.
Read more books, and then we can talk.

That’s where round-a-bouts come into play.
The problem with roundabouts is the people trying to navigate them. They’re amazingly easy and efficient, but most people freeze up when they get to them because they’re unfamiliar.

One thing that I rarely see in LA that I see in other states is the flashing yellow left turn arrow. I really wish we'd use that more here
I've been noticing these more and more, so seems like they got the message that they help.
The issue is that drivers just don't care about traffic signals or signage anymore. At every traffic light I pass daily, there's multiple vehicles that will straight run a red light.
I'm not talking speeding up cause it's yellow, I mean just not even stop after the light has been red for 5-7 seconds.
No matter whether it's stop or yield signs, 98% won't follow them or even understand how to use them correctly

Louisiana drivers are going to equate the flashing yellow turn signal with a solid yellow signal.

It seems like they are at most intersections in LC with lights. They started adding them a couple years ago then most were finished when they needed to be replaced after Laura.

Two guys were traveling in a car and the driver zoomed through a red light. The startled passenger said,” why did you run the red light?” The driver said, “ my brother n law told me he never stops at red lights!”
This occurred at a few more red lights before the driver came to a screeching stop at a green light.
When the passenger asked the driver why he stopped at a green light, he replied,” my brother n law might be coming!”

There are more rolling stops at stop signs than there are at yield signs.
Throw in texting and myriad of distraction enablers inside vehicles today (phone, entertainment and controls), and this makes as much sense as replacing condoms with socks.

And that’s because seemingly, cops have just stopped pulling people over.
Now it’s Thunderdome out there. The Wild West. Keep your head on a swivel at all times.

I never saw him but he was obviously a ways down the side street. He wasn't parked near the stop sign.

Seems like those are becoming more commonplace, in Lafayette. Almost the norm where applicable.
