Right. You interjected wealth/wealthiest and most into the equation.

You weren't correct in that.

You are mistaken. I did not interject wealth either.

Yep, make good boundary markers for the yard football field.

Whatever. Your assertion is still wrong.

You have to admit that this was a dumb statement

What? Unless its in an urban area, nicer neighborhoods don't have a lot of thru traffic. That is not a dumb statement

The problem in America is distance. Unless you live in a tightly packed city where everything is IN walking distance, walking makes no sense as a mode of transport. In Suburbistan, most of the places you go are at least a couple of miles away. Cars are a consequence living in a spread-out. country. As a consequence, the only people I ever see on sidewalks are younger people going on their jog, and old folks taking their walk. The parent poster is right in that the “walkable communities “ designed into most developments are mostly a waste with sidewalks going unused.

Depends on the community, I use the hell out of the walking paths in my neighborhood and I see a lot of other people walking (or jogging) as well. Once that fall front hits the numbers rise exponentially until the temps dip below 50.

I think this is the same guy who wanted to put homeless people in jail for stealing shopping carts

The sidewalk in front of my house is like a MILF freeway at 8:00 each morning.

This is my neighborhood mid-day for the stay-at-home & work-from-home MILFs.

My neighborhood is also one with a lot of older style homes with single driveways that are one-by-one getting torn down and turned into mini-mansions. So, we have a lot of street parking; thereby, justifying the need for sidewalks throughout.

The sidewalks in my neighborhood are used daily by many people, including me. They're my main venue for walking. There's too much traffic for me to be comfortable walking on the road. The sidewalks from my subdivision to the store are also well used.
They may be a waste of money in some places but not where I live.

This is one reason why we are the most unhealthy generation of Americans, until our kids pass us up as even more unhealthy.

Who the frick hates sidewalks?

I didn’t say I hated them. I said that the majority of them are a waste of money because they almost never get used.

Start paying attention to how infrequently anyone is walking on sidewalks as you travel around. Based on how little most of them get used they are mostly a bad return on ‘investment’.

But what determines your gauge of usefulness?

I like mine because they look good. They don’t get used often but my roi isn’t based on foot to ground use.
