20 years ago, I left my job in 1 city to move to the same city as my fiancé. My cell phone was a company phone so needed a new one. At the same time, my husband’s job provided him with a company cell.

He gave me his cell phone/number and I still have that number today with all the same contacts being transferred over & over again with every new phone. So, I have my husbands random drinking buddies, exgirlfriends, etc 20 year old contact info in my phone bc I’ve never taken the time to delete anything.

Several years ago I mistakenly hit the wrong contact to call. It was next to right one. Some dude answered the phone and I didn’t recognize the voice. I asked who’s speaking and when he answered “David”, I looked at my phone and I realized I’d called the wrong number, and whoever had the number now had the same first name as a buddy who’d been dead for about 5 years. Kinda freaked me out for a sec.

I’ve had the same number since 98. I’m sure half the contacts I’ve got don’t belong to them anymore.

Bill Paxton. He called me several years ago to do some consulting on a film he was producing. We chatted several times. I never deleted the contact. Until about two years ago it would go straight to his voicemail.
