Most parents have a favourite child, and it’s probably the eldest, according to researchers.
A study conducted at the University of California shows that out of 768 parents surveyed, 70 per cent of mothers and 74 per cent of fathers admitted to having a favourite child.

She told Quartz: “Our working hypothesis was that older, earlier born children would be more affected by perceptions of differential treatment due to their status as older child—more power due to age and size, more time with parents— in the family."
Recent studies looking at sibling relationships have also found that having a younger sibling makes you less likely to be obese, and that older siblings might be more intelligent than their younger brothers and sisters.

It'll be whichever one becomes the richest.

My oldest brother is definitely the favorite. My Dad tells me this all the time.

I have a favorite child, sure. But which child it is changes by the minute. It's usually the one who is not being an a-hole at that particular time

I can believe this. I can’t imagine putting in the same amount of effort with our next kids as with my first. Just won’t have the same amount of time.

I'm my moms favorite and first born. Middle child is dads favorite and baby gets what he wants from both.

I don't know if I'm the favorite child (nor do I care, tbh), but as the younger of two children, I definitely got the better treatment from my parents, because they were wealthier as I grew up.
i.e.
My sister got a 10 year old used car when she was old enough to drive, and she paid her own way through community college.
I got a brand new car and my parents contributed a good sum of money to my college education.
Luckily my sister has no resentment and we both understand these differences were just a function of our parents' wealth at different points in time (she's 10 years older than I am).

10, 000 years of civilization and we need studies to tell us this?
Wife and I think we've loved both sons very well.

My sister is the only girl of 4 kids and the youngest. She is the favorite. So much so I nicknamed her The Golden Child.

We spent so much time with our oldest. Teaching him words, to count, ABCs etc. When we had more we were In survival mode and forgot about that stuff. We can tell a difference. Lol.
