Bourdaine is a fricking sanctimonious prick. I’m just a guy looking for stuff that actually tastes good. I’m not superior to you just because I expect better than chain food for the money I spend eating out. It’s just a difference in perspectives.

This.
The oysters are bravissimo. The rest of the menu? Meh.

Which Lulu's? The new one on Destin's bay has a pretty great setup.

Eh, I would go with Rendezvous or Central in Memphis. They are more well known and overrated.

I like this place a lot. It's Tex Mex, no one claims it's authentic Mexican.

My answer is Spahr's in Des Allemands.
Has something changed in the past few years with the food? I used to think the fried fish was pretty damn good.

The Shed BBQ--don't know what the hype is.

That is true, but everyone raves about this place. Other than the honey butter chicken biscuit, it is just a more hearty Burger King.

Walkons.
I can understand the canes argument. Used to eat it all the time. Not crispy at all limp fries. I did a little cheat meal a few weeks back. Best canes I had in years. All very crispy. Big tenders.

Lea's Lunchroom in Lecompte
In that place's defense, when Mr. Lea was still alive, that place was a great little lunchroom. Utterly clean, a nice pitstop at the crossroads of two LONG highways, with great pies and ham. It absolutely was not overrated.
After he died and especially after the interstate was completed around Alexandria and shunted traffic away, quality and business dropped off. The last time I went, the half of the place to your left when you walk in (near the bathrooms) was filled with your standard Louisiana tourist trap crap store instead of tables and chairs. I remember when I was a kid going there for lunch on Sunday to get ham and bring home some pies and that place was brightly lit and slam packed, even the part that's now the tourist trap store. Mr. Lea would walk around the restaurant working PR and customer service, talking to every table that came in, and the kitchen was just steadily cranking out ham sandwiches, ham plates, and pies.
Now, it definitely is overrated. It's dark, the pies aren't great and they aren't special. The ham is meh. The last time I went will probably be the last. It had been years since I'd been and I took a detour to stop by. I paid 20 bucks a piece for mediocre pie and a few bucks each for blah ham on blah bread.
It is now just another sad place that used to be great, but somewhere along the way it lost its business and its soul.

Most of the buffets here in Vegas suck. You have to go to one of the opulent resorts to get a decent buffet, but then you'll pay $50/person for it.

Everything in the French quarter? Maybe try something besides a lucky dog and the Oceana grill. There’s some great restaurants in the quarter.

Bayona is now overrated. I’m sure chef Spicer will be very disheartened to hear her restaurant doesn’t pass the OT muster.

Their sweetbreads certainly are. Seem to be overcooked and chewy everytime I try them. Keep hoping for the "wow", but have never gotten it.
