Mulate's

a fun place to go in the day, but never thought much of their food, any place that tour buses stop at is best to probably avoid

Went to Mulate's in New Orleans once, with family. I tell visitors all the time to avoid it, but they rarely listen.

But why go there at all when you have so many other options.

as I said, it was a fun place to go back in the day, and I'm talking Mulate's on Hwy 6 in Breaux Bridge, they had a nice bar set up

Call me crazy, but Mike Anderson's is severely overrated.

Superior, Ninfas, Las Palmas, Mestizo, Ahuuas, Tio Javis, El Paso, Casa Maria, On The Border, the list goes on.... some is decent but still boring Mexican food. We've never had GREAT Mexican in BR IMO.

To you New Orleans OT-er's, there was a place on Magazine, another on Severne called Taqueria Corona (sp?)... used to take regular trips there just for the Mexican. It used to be incredible but I was away for a while... way above any tyipical Mexica... is it still there and is it still as good? If so, gonna make a trip...

The Chimes - great place to grab a beer or two, but the food is pretty average (except the BBQ Shrimp poboy)

The blackened gator? The red beans and rice? Definitely the best at any restaurant in BR. Get that crap outta here.

I didn't read 13 pages, but in TN my vote certainly goes to Rendezvous in Memphis. Overrated, overpriced, and total tourist trap.

Javier's in Dallas....or Mia Cocina.....or Joe T Garcias in Ft Worth......or Reata in Ft Worth and Alpine.....really too many just in DFW....the whole state is beyond my reach.

There are some good things on Javier’s menu you just have to know what to get. Filet Durango is great and the salsas and butter with chips is a winner.

MiCos- nobody ever said the food was good. You go for the atmosphere and HP village is the only one to try.

Joe T’s - same as MiCos. All about atmosphere.

The Original Ninfa's on Navigation will blow your damn mind. But you gotta trek to Houston for it.

In-N-Out/Whataburger. Both are mediocre.

Whataburger makes a good freaking burger and good fries and it's one of the few places still open in Baton Rouge after late LSU football games, so I rate it favorably. I don't know about the other stuff on the menu.
