But seriously though, can we talk about La Carreta? I've been hearing some negativity surrounding the Hammond location and I just don't understand it. I have been going there at least once a month since the placed first opened like 15 years ago and have NEVER had a bad experience. Food is good, atmosphere is second to none, service is unbelievably fast even when the place is packed out.

La Carreta is terrible. It's below average food.

A lot of the stuff is lower quality than the frozen foods section at Walmart. The only attraction is the bar, where all the rich people come to drink.

Amerigo. Don't even make their own pasta.

Gibbs in Learned, Ms. Steaks taste like any other steak and could use some seasoning.

That's interesting about Gibbs. People keep telling me I need to go try it. Amerigos is ok. I like their fried cheese app.

I'll go with McGuire's in Destin even though I dont live there. Nothing on the menu was even appealing.

I was passing through Decatur, Al. a few weeks ago and went to Big Bob Gibson's. That place is waaaay overrated. I saw all the Memphis in May trophies he won, but goddamn, that pork they serve is bland and smokeless as hell. It's pitiful in appearance and taste. Obviously they are willing to serve crap to their customers, cause if that's what he's winning those with, people in Memphis have no taste. Their smoked chicken with white sauce was okay, but nothing I write home about.

You should driven across the river toward Huntsville and ate at Greenbrier. Waaaaaaaay better than Bob Gibsons. Best pulled pork in N AL and awesome chicken and catfish as well and is very reasonably priced. A large pork plate is only like 7 bucks and you get about 1-1 1/2 pounds of meat on the plate.

Gotta take a potshot at Tuscaloosa and Auburn for my most overrated:

Dreamland in Tusccaloosa and Momma Goldbergs in Auburn

Best food I have had anywhere in Alabama:

Grille 29 in Huntsville. Everything is made fresh when you order it including most of the desserts on the menu. Not horribly priced either. When my wife and I go it is about 150.00 for the two of us. There is one in Birmingham as well, but I have never eaten at it.

I'm asking an honest question. Do most of you think Mothers is horrible?
I've only went once and that was 10 years ago because I'm not waiting in a cattle line with tourist, but I have heard some say some good about it.

When we are talking low end tourist food that isn't frozen crap food is it really bad?

It's just really overrated. They have some stuff that is good, but it's nothing you couldn't get just about anywhere in New Orleans without the long wait.

The blackened gator? The red beans and rice? Definitely the best at any restaurant in BR. Get that crap outta here.

Chimes red beans and rice is very good imo. I really like their remoulade.

Frank's in BR.

Supposedly has the best breakfast on the planet. Not even close. I mean, who likes dry biscuits?
