Are we talking bayou Cajuns or farming Cajuns?
The Cheramie name owns Bayou Lafourche. Probably not many in Ville Platte.

I found my cruise book in the closet. If you want to pass a few pics along to his brothers I’ll see what I can do. I may just end up taking pics of the pics with my phone.

Boudreaux and Thibodaux are the ones that immediately come to mind because of the jokes.
Another common one is Bourgeois.

I was friends with a Firmin in Mansura. Can you see the map on my post? The link is just an image hosting site. Not the original.

Does the pronunciation differ in certain regions? My wife's aunt is a Champagne and they pronounce it (Sham-Pine)
Yes, because in St. Martin Parish it's pronounced Shaw(m)-Pine. "M" is almost completely silent and the a & m make an aw sound with a faint m at the end of Shaw.

I flew with a guy in HMM-161. Soignet. All called him Sonnier but he preferred "Swan-yeah." As I recall he was from the Houma area.

I have to admit, I have never seen it spelled that way. I have always seen Sonnier.
