More often than not, it seems to me it’s people outside of Louisiana that say LA means Los Angeles. I always initially assume it’s referencing Louisiana.

Dude, no one outside of Louisiana thinks of the state when they hear or see LA. The only time I will assume LA means Louisiana is if it comes after a Louisiana city or were talking about multiple states.

Even people from Mississippi and Arkansas mean Los Angeles when they say LA. No one outside of Louisiana associates the state before the city with it.
