Mormons make up about 18 percent of Scouts.

Before anyone starts talking about how BSA caused this or whatever...

quote:

effective on December 31, 2019, the Church will conclude its relationship as a chartered organization with all Scouting programs around the world.

This isn't just BSA... they are pulling out of all Scouting programs worldwide. Why?

quote:

For years, Church leaders have been preparing a new initiative to teach and provide leadership and development opportunities to all children and youth, to support families and to strengthen youth everywhere as they develop faith in the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This new approach is intended to help all girls and boys, young women and young men discover their eternal identity, build character and resilience, develop life skills and fulfill their divine roles as daughters and sons of God.

They want a religious based program. Scouting has never, and was never, been a religious based program. There are religious ideals in Scouting, sure, but it was never a religious program. Mormons want a religious program.

Scouting was REQUIRED for all Mormon boys. Reaching the rank of Eagle was EXPECTED. This is why the LDS church sponsored units. It would be as if the Catholic Church said, 1) CYO is mandatory and 2) instead of CYO, boys will join boy scouts.

Also, this does not mean that all Mormons are quitting Boy Scouts. Mormons can still join and participate in Scouting. However, the units will not be sponsored by LDS (i.e. they can join another unit sponsored by someone else) and the Mormons will still be required to join their new church group.

Interestingly enough, even though the Mormons were Scouts, they were almost a different sect. They had a crazy desire to get to Eagle by 13 or 14. They rarely, if ever, participated in district events, summer camps, day camps, etc.

This is a financial hit, though, not only through loss of members, but also because individual Mormons tended to support Friends of Scouting (the Scouts fundraising arm).

Good for them

Conservatives should just pack up and leave when proggie shite like this enters an organization. After Yeti, Target, Boy Scouts, etc, eventually companies will get the message and tell the pervs to get bent.

Maybe the scouts massacred them, so they're moving out west to find a homeland.

As a Mormon I fully support this. And so do my wives.

I agree with this. I wish folks would actually take a stand on things they believe in instead of complaining online all day about shite and doing absolutely nothing about it in real life. I don't care where you stand on things. It gets old.

This isn't the case. It's traditional and reformed. Choices are awesome, wouldn't you agree?

you sound defensive.

A church wants a religious program? I am surprised. Wonder why they just decided this when they have been affiliated passionately for so many decades?

Wait, are those companies hurting?

ETA:
Appears Target's stock is up 15% in the last year actually.

If all companies go by is what they pick up from the propaganda media, it's easy for them to go along with the leftist program. There are limited ways to get an opposing message to companies, and the only active and effective one I know of is to not participate with, or contribute to, those organizations.

Yeti is turning into a lesson.

We saw this coming once BSA stepped onto the slippery slope and started our own organization. We are in our 4th operating year and things couldn’t be going better.

People on both sides of these things fail to realize that there are just as many people on the other side of the fence. So if you and all of your NRA friends want to stop going to Dick's Sporting Goods because they stopped selling AR-15's, there are just as many people on the other side that will go out of their way to visit them because of that same reason.

They don't do these things without a ton of market research.

Yes. That a powerful organization can run a sensationalist campaign full of half-truths and create an angry mob to force other companies associated with them to comply with their future wishes. Very liberal of them.

Yeti made a poor choice, and they realize it now based on the -hard- backpeddling they've been doing. If their bid for forgiveness fails, watch what happens to them.

Those people aren't on the O-T, though. Everyone in America acts and feels exactly like the O-T does, in the minds of the O-T =)

This place is the worst Echo Chamber in America.
