I cross the Bridge every day and I thought it was high in April. It’s almost touching the bottom of the old dock by the LSU building thingy.

What are the chances that the levee breaches in Baton Rouge?

The whole area is being lulled into a sense of comfort and security. This river is so damn high and is staying high for a record breaking period of time. We have never seen this before and people are just numb to the whole experience because it’s been normalized. That’s what’s scary

I bike on the levee a lot, and it's remarkable how much higher than ground level east of the levee the water level is.

Any hurricane would be horrible. Hell, a 5' storm surge (much less 10'+) would do horrible things to a levee system within a foot of setting records.

If AHP sees 10 feet, everything else backs up too.

Morganza spillway to open

LINK

BATON ROUGE - Officials have confirmed the Morganza Spillway will be opened for the third time in its history due to high water on the Mississippi River.

Officials have confirmed a barge will be sank in Bayou Chene to prevent back water flooding into parts of south Louisiana.

Assumption OEP Director John Boudreaux confirms the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans a soft opening on June 2.

This is a developing story.

WBRZ has changed the wording in the story, my feelings are they know they will open it, just going through the channels, but what I quoted was how the story originally read

It concerns me that NIMBYers and short-sighted state politicians have any influence on what strategies and plans we take on these matters.

Fortunately, we have top water scientists and engineers from all over the world right here in Baton Rouge at a non-profit. Only the Netherlands has anything that rivals it, as far as think tanks go. Give them more resources to work with and let them come up with some solutions.

Right because all these brilliant minds are going to agree to a solution in time to make a difference. Get outta here with your ham- handed schilling for more public money.

I know the Army Corps of engineers has issued a dig ban 1500 feet from the toe of the levee until the water level drops
