I wish I had a nickel for every woman I have met that claimed she’s part NA.

It's funny because just about every person I know says this too. Thankfully my Aunt has done some thorough genealogy research, pulling actual records so I trust her. I've seen some of her work on my dad's side which is very heavily weighted German. I'm glad to have her because I would never consider using that....till now.

If white people are so privileged, why would they want to claim any other race but white? Hmmm
In '99 my military boss found out my Grandma was Cherokee...dude TOLD me:
"One day soon promotion will be based on balancing the spreadsheet to mirror the population, you need to claim it."
He was a black guy.

Well, I guess you just got a little taste of how it feels.

So long as American citizens continue to blame the "other party" for our problems instead of the entire government, we will continue to decline. They have us right where they want us.

Jim Crow says, what?! Honestly, if this country could have dealt with aftermath of Civil War and 19th Amendment without doubling down on segregation, this country might be stronger and not be currently eating itself from the inside.

The fact that there’s even a section that asks you your race is stupid to begin with. I’ve always thought that shite was dumb since I was a kid filling them out in grade school. If we’re as equal opportunity as we say we are, then why ask?

In many cases you are right. This is not one of those cases.
This equity and diversity bullshite is 100% purely progressive ideology.

Isn’t it? I personally would never want to question if I were a diversity hire. Talk about a horrible mindset to be put into. Questioning whether or not you deserve to be somewhere because of your merit or simply because of your skin color
I won’t even take help from friends when it comes to jobs. I have too much pride. I would feel like a pos knowing I got a job because of some arbitrary reason

I see many in this thread agree. But I don't think race should even be apart of a college application.
Set your qualifications as a university. And you accept students in based off of if they meet those minimum standards that have already been set. Imo, I think this would be a way of raising retention and graduation rates on college campuses as well. By lowering standards, you're letting in a bunch of kids who are in way over their head coming into college.
I fully believe black students and other minority students are capable of rising to the occasion across the board and being accepted to the most prestigious institutions, but in order to do so you have to quit lowering the standards.
I know Biden would literally never do it. But I think this would be a great stance for a future presidential candidate to run on. Outlawing the use of considering race on college campuses. Make it a law that no publicly funded university can place anywhere on the application. If colleges want to track their race numbers, then they can just do a census of the students who are already enrolled and registered.

Start researching your genealogy. Start interviewing your aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc. then start gathering old clerk of court files, marriage certificates, military records, etc.
You'll start going down rabbit holes like crazy but it's fun. I helped my aunt a little, years ago.

They have done this with black kids at Ivy League schools and they failed out in very large numbers

I don't see a problem with identifying as whatever race you want.

Strangely, many are a small part.
In the trail of tears debacle, a bunch of whiteys let natives settle along the way (against fed mandate), many married into the populations of rednecks.
So most North Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi folks have some in their past.
The rest of the regions tribes just stayed put and slowly intermingled.

As a black man, I don't blame y'all. My twin boys are in the process of applying for colleges and I cringe every time they ask for race/ethnicity. My kids worked their asses off taking AP classes and getting their GPAs in the 4.5 range. They took the ACT/SAT and did very well.
I want them to know they are going to Ga Tech and UGA on scholarship because of the work they put in, not because of their minority status.
