BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - More than 430 new Louisiana laws are taking effect in August.
Starting Wednesday, hazing penalties will toughen, spurred by the death of an LSU freshman after a fraternity drinking ritual. Louisiana's waiting period to get married is dropping from 72 hours to 24 hours from the issuance of the marriage license to the ceremony.
Legislators are requiring schools to give parents information about flu causes and vaccines. They've lifted the ban on switchblade knives. They're prohibiting the tethering of pets during a hurricane or a flood.
Video poker facilities will face loosened restrictions. And companies selling DNA testing kits will have to tell Louisiana customers if their genetic material will be used for research or other purposes.
Lawmakers passed the measures during the regular legislative session that ended in May.

Passed more than 400 BS meaningless "laws" but needed four tries to pass a budget.

Yeah, because throwing more government at the problems of this state is really what’s going to fix the problems of this state, which is government.

This should bring the gun violence down significantly

Less government is the only way to increase individual liberty

What drove this? Interesting. Reason why I wont do any of those. Ie...just dna data collectors to sell off

I want them to remove stupid laws like making strippers 21 and bringing the drinking age back to 18

Because morons who have raped numerous women or been serial killers are submitting the kits and CODIS hits are popping up for law enforcement, or at a minimum, law enforcement has a guaranteed sample to obtain via warrant or SDT.
Most notably, the Golden Gate Killer.

That’s what happens when you let lawyers have too much idle time on their hands. They will find a way to justify their existences and their laws to govern the frick out of you..
Man, what would we do without all of our many laws and regulations? Has government ever seen a law or regulation it didn’t like?

It’s not the offenders DNA investigators originally receive, it often comes voluntary from close family menbers. This opens new investigative leads on persons of interest.
The DNA from the person of interest is usually taken discretely after he abandons an item while under direct surviellance. Once that is obtained CODIS verifications take place and match the offender to the crime.
This is just on of many examples of how “sources” assist law enforcement all of The country.

Too many legislators brag about laws they passed. I wish some would run on a platform of repealing laws.
Looks like the switchblade law was amended to strike out the ban on mere ownership or possession, but "intentional concealment on one's person" is still a crime.
Laws against switchblades and sawed off shotguns are so dumb. The reefer madness crowd acts like they are as dangerous as a nuclear bomb, but it's just hysterical propaganda.
If a man is coming for me with a shotgun, I hope it is sawed off and not full-length barrel. A guy has a video testing a comparison, but it was difficult because he couldn't hit shite with the sawed off.

So they put in laws to prevent them from being stupid enough to do this?
Yeah I heard about these types, but wondering if there were other sketch things the dna collectors got caught doing without permission.

All of this is good stuff.
Can anyone tell me why I should oppose this?

Government was scared people might fix too many problems themselves and thus realize what a crock government really is.
Look! Over there! Squirrel! (govt. breaks something while public is distracted) Well there oughta be a law about reducing these breakages, and means testing fixes! We'll start taking bids on the fix, order a couple studies on feasibility and wildlife impact, environment. Be right as rain in..rain ya say? Well we can regulate too!...
