If this was the oil & gas industry, those sanctimonious journalists would be writing about how people in that “dying industry” should know better and diversify their careers.

I don't understand these reports. The industry has utilized freelance writers for years, so are these contract employees included in reported statistic's? If so, they aren't being fired, just not utilized anymore.

Can you teach a “journalist” to code?
Maybe if we get to the point of, "if you put 10,000 laid off SJW/freaks in a room full of keyboards eventually you'll get usable code".

Is hat a lot for one month? That sounds like a lot. Should I be concerned? I mean I don’t like people losing their jobs, so maybe I can give them some advice. They should probably develop a skill that is in demand and difficult to replace. Maybe something like coding.

I want to feel bad for these folks, but they weren't real jobs anyway. They were just being paid off of advertising money to produce content to outrage people and dump on white males. That's not really journalism.
We are going to see MORE of what you described, not less, because actual journalists are being phased out.
Those who control the media are tired of facts getting leaked out.
Prepare yourself for even more mindless drivel moving forward.

Still nothing compared to the retail carnage America is seeing but is not talked about.

Must have been a real slap in the face to the people laid off at the Washington post when they saw a 5.5 million dollar super bowl ad that could have kept them around for another year.
It was actually a one-minute ad (and $10+ million)

Besides the rampant fake news, what has actually changed that merits them to lay off so many people? It's not like people aren't reading the news/opinion pieces. If anything, opinion pieces are what people read.
Could someone explain?
Could someone explain?

Some of this is due to poor strategic decisions made by news media to focus on video. They fired a bunch of writers and hired big video teams, then they realized it was really expensive to create video and no one was watching their shite tier SJW content.

Eventually, you run out of ways to say “ Orange Man Bad “ .

It’s almost as if there isn’t a market for woke, ultra progressive, virtue signaling faux outrage articles telling white people how terrible they are while crying racism, sexism and misogyny at every person they disagree with outside of the 17 people they interact with on twitter

I guess there isn't....you woulda thought those articles with in-depth analysis into the dating scene for Trans latinx women in rural towns would have really drummed up readers

The business model still wasn’t profitable, at least in the case of Buzzfeed. The VC firms don’t seem to be willing to continue to throw in cash to cover losses. Now they have to figure out a way to generate a return for their investors
