If Alexander's plan chops important degree programs without drastically cutting out travel, perks, remodeling, bullshite degree programs, luxuries and waste in all aspects of the university, etc. etc., then he should be fired immediately upon submission of his proposal.

But that won't happen. Edwards wants him to present a doomsday proposal to further his tax hike agenda.

It amazes me that so many people have been suckered into the higher education scam that dollars spent by a university is a legitimate measure of the quality of education.

Anyone who believes that LSU is not the least efficient government entity in the state is not paying attention.

The issue with LSU is there our professor's making too much for what they do.
For example, a professor I had last semester teaches two undergraduate classes (no graduate) for 6 hours a week and makes according to the online database $197,533 a year.

That's ridiculous.

The problem isn't liberal arts majors. That's an easy out. Its too many damn schools. Every state in the South has this problem.

Here in Mississippi, we have eight public universities. Three of them are HBCUs, one of them has "University for Women" in its title. So half of public higher education in this state is for niche students right off the bat.

Because I received a Higher Ed degree from LSU, I am very familiar with the Louisiana higher ed system as well. Here is what needs to happen, pronto.

There are four research universities in the state: LSU, Tech, ULL and UNO. LSU needs to serve the capital area and the state as a whole. Tech the North, ULL the Southwest and UNO the Greater New Orleans area.

Students that graduate from high schools in Louisiana should have the primary choice of LSU (top 3rd of students) or their regional service school (middle third) or community college (lower third)

LSU-Alexandria and LSU-Shreveport need to be converted to LSU centers and only offer 3rd and 4th year classes in business and education. Community colleges can do the 1st and 2nd year thing.

McNeese needs to be converted to a similar center format.

Monroe, Northwestern, Southeastern and SUNO need to close.

Grambling and SUBR need to be a united HBCU. Northern students to Grambling, Southern students to SUBR.

Maybe the piece of shite LSU alumni should donate some money to they school they "love" so much. Pretty pathetic who low the endowment is for such a big school. No one to blame but the alumni

What's type of research does he/she do and how much grant money does the professor bring in?

Close ULM and the HBCUs.

Are HBCU's still needed? I know they have a lot of history, but they were created due to segregation. Isn't it time "we move on?"

Possibly combine Grambling with LA Tech and Southern with LSU?

Maybe go even more exclusive, top 10%. In Texas, UT and A&M are in a tier by themselves over all of the other public universities. There's nothing wrong with a UH or Texas Tech degree but they are not in the same tier as UT or A&M. Also it's pretty common for students to go to CC's like Blinn or San Jac before transferring to a school like A&M in case they weren't Top 10% out of HS or perhaps to save a little money as there is no equivalent to TOPS in Texas. Or you can just go to Texas State in San Marcos to party and visit Austin on the weekends.

I like making LSU more exclusive, but Louisiana doesn't have the population of Texas, so 10% might be too much. Maybe 25% would work.

My point is that there are too many damn schools and while LSUS and LSUA shouldn't have liberal arts majors, LSU should.

And Im not saying a kid from Jonesboro that works hard at the Circle K should only have Louisiana Tech as an option - I'm saying that if that kid doesn't qualify for a more exclusive LSU, then Tech should be a primary second option. If she wants to go to ULL or UNO, thats fine, but ULL and UNO should have limited resources to recruit in La. Tech's service area

All that to say. Tears should flow and steaks should sear when someone's kid gets accepted to LSU.

You do realize before the proposed upgrades to the REC, LSU was dead last in student recreation facilities in the SEC? Nah you probably didn't.

This is such an incredibly dumb statement.

So because we are last in the SEC in some stupid category we have to do millions worth of upgrades including a lazy fricking river. By doing that we have to cut more school funds.

I'm sure parents don't care about johnnys Econ class as long as he's got a sweet gym to ball in and a river to relax from the long day

That dude is a blowhard. He cries and cries about the budget shite every year like a broken record. Problem with his cries is that LSU's budget has actually been INCREASING every year

Yall do realize that this one frick tard is the sole reason we didn't get a new coach, right?
