MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Authorities have arrested a man they believe was trying to have his estranged wife killed.
Michael Faubion was arrested on Tuesday on a charge of solicitation for murder.
According to documents filed with the 4th Judicial District Court, Faubion's wife went to police in early December and said a witness warned her that Faubion had made threats to have her killed.
Police also talked to the witness, who they say confirmed the victim's story. The witness told police that he and Faubion were talking about the witness' prison life and affiliation with prison gangs when the subject came up. He told police that Faubion had recently received a large worker's compensation settlement for around $200,000. He also said Faubion was the beneficiary of life insurance policies belonging to the victim. The witness told police that Faubion said he'd use the money to pay to have the victim killed. Documents say that Faubion asked this witness to facilitate the murder with his prison connections.
Court documents indicate that the witness believed Faubion was serious about the threat and would hire someone else to kill the victim if he did not agree.

You’d think it would be easier to pay her to go away than to risk getting stung hiring a hit man.

He should’ve just taken her deer hunting sans the hunters orange and pumped a few rounds into her torso by mistake.

Can’t you hire a hitman off the deep dark web? He shoulda went that route instead.
Could you imagine really doing that? Seems risky to me.

He also could have used the ol " I was just cleaning my gun when it went off in her face".
excuse that seems to never be questioned.

I'd imagine a good number of those hitmen are police/FBI undercover

Quick story:
When my cousin was going through a divorce a few years ago, an acquaintance of her Dad offered to "off" the ex husband.
He was serious.

I'm not sure that would qualify as a best practice. Jerry Mclemore of West Monroe tried something similar in 1991, and he's doing life.
