every day they stall means one more day of free interest income on your money to their bottom line, insurance and casinos are a regulated and assured return on their investment, only difference is insurance is required by law...

The OT; the place where people bitch about those that break laws only to desire to create their own when they don't agree with the outcome.
It was a civil matter, if he didn't have the ability to float the job,he shouldn't have done a "verbal" agreement.

Homeowner will probably file a vandalism/theft claim with homeowners insurance on the missing roof. Get paid for a new roof and interior water damage.
Insurance co. goes after roofer to recover payout for the claim. Roofer ends up paying for 2 roofs for this deadbeat.

It's the nature of the business. I will say, more homeowners get fricked by construction companies than construction companies fricked by homeowners, and it's not really even close.

That guy’s crazy, terrorizes his neighbors routinely.

I don't see the problem here. frick her for not paying like she said she would. I would've done the same thing.
It sounds like a good idea but the labor costs as much as the materials

I would've done the same thing.

I sold a cheap arse carpet job to a guy for 800 bucks but installed it the same day. He didnt pay. I couldnt get a hold of him. I still had the key a few months later and i ripped that son a bitch out by hand and took everything but the tack strip.
I resold the carpet.
I resold the carpet.

There are lots of white roofers in North La. And pretty much all of them borderline psychotic. But he does look pretty pale to be working outside in the La sunshine.

Pretty sure he could have just foreclosed her, depending on the laws down there.
In a lot of states he could get his legal fees. I assume the final dollar figure would still be a lot less than the mortgage, so the next creditor probably would have bid him out at the sale, assuming mechanics liens get some priority.
But you know, I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express, etc., and I'm sure he enjoyed ripping the roof off almost as much as getting paid.
