IIRC correctly Sweden also gave them more financial support to train. It's pretty poor in the US

No, they use the awesome systems that give us this kind of shite.

You mean there aren't dozens of world class pole vaulters in Sweden?

I could see doing that, no need to waste time when you have a clear path.

US has a good one

"He could have switched 3 yrs ago"?He & his parents made a well thought out decision, according to them, for him to go to LSU for a year. He said, numerous times, that he wanted to experience college life with his older brother. From his parents' perspective, both former pro track athletes who knew the pro track circuit from personal experiences, they no doubt knew their 18 yr old high school graduate was not ready to live on his own throughout Europe. With a lot of money in his pockets.

If America wouldn’t have super outdated Olympic qualifying, he’d represent the USA

Yeah, that’s pretty true our Track And Field team is pretty subpar and never does anything at the olympics

Well, if he were to choke at the trials, who's to say he wouldn't choke at the Games where there's more pressure. He's #1 in the world. That status is usually good for earning a ticket.

The more you think about it, the more full of shite it sounds.

Sweden is packed with OT 9's. USA is packed with diabetes. Easy choice if you ask me.

What kind of coin does a Swe-jun pole vaulting GOAT pull in a year? Just for competition and then for endorsements?

Their mother is I believe which allows him to compete for Sweden. He made that decision early in his career because he would not have made the US team at that point. Now he can't switch teams.

I’ve read it was because Sweden supports their pole vaulters better than US track and field does.

Nooooooooo you can’t say that! He spent a few summers in sweden! Sweden supports their olympians! Unlike the US where all are our athletes are poor and homeless. We must copy Sweden’s model if America were to have any success at the olympics!!

6.15m is the best vault outdoors ever. The world record is 6.18m by Mondo indoors earlier this year. Don’t believe fake news from NBC!
