Unacceptable. They should let him know where she is so he can sue for back child support.

Went Christmas shopping, didn’t come back, and wasn’t reported missing 7 days after Christmas?

Something else had to have gone on here. I wonder if she had a habit of “disappearing”

I’ve been trying to follow up on this case.

So it was not out of the ordinary for her to disappear for a week or so at the time. She was an alcoholic.

She was arrested for a bench warrant for failure to appear at arraignment in court for a DUI.

Arrested for failure to appear

quote:

The sheriff’s office said Smith failed to appear in court on Dec. 27, 2001, in connection with a charge of driving while intoxicated issued on Nov. 11, 2001, by the Eden Police Department.

quote:

She has posted bond and is scheduled to appear in Rockingham County District Court on March 26.

Ehhh…she might be a flight risk.

I remember reading a story of a guy who went fishing with his son and he "fell" in with no life jacket. Police searched the waters but couldn't find him.

20 years later he calls his home because he missed his wife and kid. He was living in Mexico. Promptly got arrested. Dude was scott free and ruined it.

She should go to her kids with a Britney Spears CD and some Beanie Babies gift wrapped and say "hey kids, I'm finally back from shopping. You wouldn't believe how bad the traffic was"

This is why I come here.

LOL. What planet do you live on? Women do not face consequences in situations like this. If anything, she will be praised by society for abandoning her family to "find her true self".

Looks like alcohol may have been a factor.

What if she was renting?

Or the property was owned by an LLC?

The more I think about this whole situation, it makes me more angry that it probably should. The taxpayers on NC should hit her up for the wasted tax dollars they spent looking for her all these years.

Not making any excuses for her, but were the authorities in North Carolina under any obligation to spend time looking for her?

Considering she had a warrant for failure to appear, I'd say yes.

And guess who was nominated for the coveted "Mother Of The Year Award" in NC around the time she vanished?

Hint: It wasn't her.

Honestly, men do this all the time…why is it so much more alarming when a woman does it. I would dare to say some posters on this board have done it….
