Does anyone on here enjoy model railroading? I recently got into it (ho scale) and it is quite addicting.

I’d love to get started in it. But I don’t have the space.

And this

ho scale

Is gonna get a lot of adult, grown up responses.

Darth has a blown up section of tracks and a burnt out train that his model planes strafed.

My neighbor does this. He’s a 60+ yr old phone company retiree. He has a massive setup that takes up about a quarter of his upstairs. He also buys and sells stuff online and does well at it.

I built my kid a 4x8 HO layout 4-5 years ago. I need to do more with it. I want to integrate Arduino functionally/animations into the it.

I have a 13’x5’ HO layout modeled after the Southern Railway. Model railroading is quite the hobby if you get into it. The possibilities are endless.

I started looking into it on Youtube, fell into a rabbit hole, and suddenly I get layout tour videos in my recommendations all the time. The model layouts on THIS CHANNEL are seriously insane - people and clubs putting in years of work on this stuff.

I dabble with painting fantasy and sci-fi gaming miniatures, and can really appreciate the time it must take for all the scenery they craft for their models.

My 6 yr old son has recently gotten into RC Crawlers. Much better than traditional RC cars since they go much slower, reducing the chances of him destroying it. He and I have had a great time in recent months designing and building challenges for him to take his crawler on. We've employed many of the same materials and techniques that model railroaders use to create there designs. IMHO the crawlers are just more fun though since they're not limited to a track.

Don't need to. Have a real railroad, crossing and trains just down the street from my house.

Do you dry or wet paint?

I've been thinking about getting into painting my board game minis. Every time I search on Youtube I get discouraged because there's so much information out there and it's all different. Where I'm at now, is thinking about getting a set of Army Painter paints and pre-made washes (everything comes in droppers with bbs), and start with that.

Do you have any other tips that could help me get started?
