This isn't new with a video game. Backyard Baseball 1997 had girls in it. Stephanie Morgan was my shortstop and Keisha Phillips was my cleanup hitter. We dominated the Backyard Baseball League.

There will be users creating females named big dick throwing 102 mph fastballs with a submarine delivery in diamond dynasty mode that are 5'2 and fat or 7'3 and skinny as a rail with purple hair on a team wearing MAGA jerseys. Guaranteed.

The players that want a simulation of baseball will play offline modes where they don't have to add female players. All the online community cares about is exploiting anything they can to get any possible advantage, which is why they had to remove knuckle ballers completely. Even if a knuckleballer was rating as one of the worst pitchers on the game, people would throw them non-stop because the game was glitchy trying to hit off them.

The stupidity of this is immense, when you realize how fun adding a softball mode to it. Add in Legends of the game, college, olympic, etc. Instead, they just shoehorn women into MLB, where they will never be, without Ronald Acuna getting bottom surgery.

This would require actual work, which the studio is averse to. They wanna update the rosters and add some new player "cards" and throw out the same game as last year. It's a lot cheaper to hire roster editors than programmers and tweak the engine

They haven't announced if you can use females in diamond dynasty yet, so far it is only announced for road to the Show, the single player mode where you make your own player and start in the minors and work your way up. You only control your character, rather than playing with the whole team.

The problem with this business model is that for every one whale they gain, they’ll lose at least two males, probably more. Again, we have multiple examples of this strategy being a road to failure. There is literally zero legitimate business reasons to make this move. It’s purely ideologically driven.

Statistically, the number of female gamers are larger than most assume. They're courting a decent-sized group, especially with a lot of younger girls getting into gaming more so than in the past. But I'm gonna digress.

That said, this one character that you could play but are not forced to play with isn't going to create some massive wave of male gamers walking away. Especially with an established franchise like The Show. This same discussion came up for Ubisoft when they started adding the option to create either a male or female assassin for Assassin's Creed. It didn't cause any issues in engagement by male gamers.

What women play in the mlb?

They went with the negro leagues, which was cool, to this.

I'm sure the development of adding a whole additional league is bigger and more expensive than just adding one character in story mode. They're cutting corners to put out something "new" with minimal development (which they're known for as others have pointed out).

They could've added the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League instead.

They added women's players into FIFA (or whatever) Ultimate Team this year, and expanded the women's teams in the game overall.

You know what I don't do? Usually include female players in my team.

In the off chance that I do, I don't really notice.

It doesn't really appeal to me, so I just skip it. Who gives a shite?

But my daughter DOES play FIFA on her Switch, and she loves to play with HER soccer heroes. Good for her.

Imagine being so arse-chapped about this TRAVESTY that you felt the need to start a post about it on a college football message board, in the third (?) most appropriate place to put it (Gaming, More Sports).

Y'all people need Jesus.

When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. They are so focused on wokeism that they forget that capitalism also encourages expanding into new audiences
